12-4-2000... Mikey says, Hi, everybody..I'm back! Did ya miss me? I'm gittin' ready for Christmas!"

After losing his cardiologist, it looks like Mikey has now also lost his insurance. He will be seen for perhaps the last time in Tulsa next week, and then we will have to take him to Little Rock. Arkansas still does not have a pediatric thoracic surgeon, so if any invasive procedure is needed, they say Mikey will have to go to Cleveland, Ohio! Not good. Mikey was seen by a visiting cardiologist (who is retiring) out of Little Rock's Children's Hospital last week. The doctor said that Mikey's post open-heart surgery records show that Mikey has RVSD.. residual ventricular septal defect. This is not good, either. We were not aware of this. This means that the septal defect (hole in the wall that separates the two chambers of the heart on the ventricle side) is leaking blood. We thought that this had been repaired during the open-heart surgery earlier this year, but apparently there is still a hole there. Oh, my, it hasn't been a good week for Mikey and family. But, we know that God is still on the throne. He's brought us through a lot, and we'll not consider this a big setback yet.

Mikey is looking forward to Christmas. Mikey had Uncle Bob and cousin Ariel down after church yesterday to play some ping pong with him and he always enjoys that. Tonight is "Battle of the Bands" at our church, so we'll all get to hear some good gospel music.

Waiting for Santa...

12-10-2000... Just 15 days until Christmas. Mikey is fooling around, as he warms himself by the fire in today's picture. Mikey is still doing pretty well (thank you, Lord) and he seems to still have a lot of energy. We had a nice family dinner at James and Mary's last night (Ed's parents) and no one left hungry.. Mary is a GOOD cook. Crazy weather we're having.. cool tonight, 70� Monday, severe thunderstorms forecast for Tuesday, followed by a hard freeze later in the week.. whe-e-e-w. Mikey is chompin' at the bit for Christmas!
