| posted October 18, 2003 12:30 AM EST The PSU Preview Staff has just learned that Newlyweds Nick and Jessica will be visiting our site for college football news and updates. Evidently Nick wants Jessica to learn more about college football. (Loyal Readers: the following Upset of the Week feature has been simplified for Jessica. We appreciate your patience.) The Southern California Trojans � no, not that kind of Trojan, Jessica. The U-S-C Trojans are a football team. Can you say �foot ball�? Very good. They throw the ball, they catch the ball, they kick the ball. Ok, you need a break? Very good. Where were we? Oh, that�s right. The USC Trojans will be going to Indiana this weekend. That�s nice that you like India.arie, but that�s not what we are talking about. Indiana is one of the 50 states of the United States. Never mind, that�s not important. The USC Trojans � Yes, it is funny to say Trojan. Anyway, they will play the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this weekend. Ok, we will call them Noterdaim from now on. That�s a good point, it is hard to say. You�re right, it�s not as hard as plata-ma-pus, though. So, to recap, the USC Trojans will play a foot-ball game with the Noterdaim Fighting Irish. No, we don�t know why the Irish want to Fight, Jess. Maybe it�s because they have a 2-3 losing record. Yes, your last record was losing, too. Ok, to help you, here�s a picture of the Noterdaim mascot for a visual. You�re right. It does look like the Lucky Charms Leprechaun. Fine, we will call them the Noterdaim Leprechauns. Ok, let�s take another break. It�s good, it�s good, it�s good. Take a deep breath. Ok. The USC Trojans are supposed to beat the Noterdaim Leprechauns this weekend. Yes, it does make sense that a big wooden horse would beat a tiny Leprechaun. Now, what makes this the �Upset of the Week� is that the Staff thinks that Noterdaim will actually win the football game. You�re right, it�s as crazy as the idea that Buffalo Wings don�t really come from Buffalos. Who would have thought? Anyway, the Staff thinks that Noterdaim will win because they finally figured out how to shift the focus from their lackluster Quarterback position � no, Jessica, he doesn�t really have a Quarter on his back � to the running game. That�s right. The Leprechauns do not throw, catch or kick the football exceptionally well, but they can run it down your throat. The Leprechauns racked up over 300 yards in rushing offense last week against then-No. 16 Pittsburgh. USC�s Defense is one of the best in the country, so it will be difficult for Noterdaim�s Offense to have such a record-setting performance. That�s where revenge comes into play. Last year, USC ruined Noterdaim�s chances at a BCS Bowl with a huge payout. How many Louis Vuitton bags you could buy with $14 million dollars? It�s ok, take a deep breath. Noterdaim was ranked No. 8 and banking on a BCS bid when they traveled to California last year to face future Heisman Trophy winner Carson Palmer. They were humiliated 44-13. USC had over 600 yards of Offense on the Leprechaun�s No. 4 rated Defense. Imagine, Jessica, how mad you would be if one of Nick�s dancers made a move on him. That�s the kind of emotion that the Leprechauns will be playing with in front of a home crowd this Saturday. They may be 2-3 right now, but this game could turn things around for Noterdaim. There�s still a second half of the season to play. Yes, Jessica. You�re right. There�s a second half of your first season of Newlyweds to air too. The Staff has TiVo set to catch the fun. We�d hate to miss out on another �is this chicken or tuna� debate. |
