Week Seven
The PSU Preview Staff is anxiously awaiting the new Fox special: Tigers Gone Bad.

As you have certainly heard by now,
Roy (of the famed Siegfried and Roy magical duo) has been maimed by one of their performing cats.  It happened last Friday before a sellout audience of 1,500 at The Mirage Resort in Las Vegas

The Royal White Tiger, named
Montecore, lunged at Roy on
stage and grabbed his arm. After
Roy tried to free himself by hitting
the tiger on the head with a
microphone, the 600-pound
animal took hold of his neck and
then dragged him offstage. Show
workers set off fire extinguishers
backstage to distract the tiger,
which then scurried to his cage.

Roy is showing signs of
improvement, but remains in
critical condition.  It looks as though
the Siegfried and Roy show will be dissolved and the Tigers (and 265 humans) are out of a job.

As Montecore begins hitting the pavement looking for another paycheck, the PSU Preview Staff cant help but think about the
LSU Tigers and how they might soon be shoved out of the Top 10 spotlight looking for another gig (i.e. waiting for baseball season to begin).

Florida Head Coach
Ron Zook, on the other hand, will be fighting to keep his job. Florida is trying to avoid its worst record after seven games since a 3-4 start in 1986. Zook has the dubious distinction of leading the Gators out of the top 25 for the first time since dinosaurs were roaming the earth (or 275 weeks). Needless to say, the firecoachzook.com website has had more visitors in six weeks than the Disney World theme park.

The odds are heavily stacked against the Upset (which pleases this Staff as there were some grumblings last week that
Auburn over Tennessee wasnt a risky pick).  LSUs defense is ranked No. 4 in the nation giving up only 256 yards per game and a measly 58 yards per game on the ground. The Tigers also have an impressive 10 interceptions (returning two for touchdowns, and another to the 1-yard line) and 14 sacks so far this season.

At the same time, the Gators will be starting true freshman QB Chris Leak for the third time this season. Florida has started 33 freshmen this year.
But if you are a Gator fan, now is not the time to lose hope. Last Sunday, the Florida players took it upon themselves to call a players-only meeting.  A lot can be read into this.  Hopefully this is a sign that they still believe in their coach and more importantly themselves.  If they still believe, anything can happen.

Anything Can Happen should be the new tag line for the
SEC.  The Staff has written more Upset articles about the SEC than all other conferences combined.

The intangibles for the game are in the Gator's favor. Florida has a 26-20-3 edge in the all-time series, winning 13 of the last 15 meetings.  LSU has beaten Florida in
Baton Rouge just twice since 1980; the Tigers are 2-7-1 in the last 10 meetings in Tiger Stadium.

Prediction:
Gators grab the Tigers by the neck and drag them off the field
Florida 10 - LSU 6

The PSU Preview Staff wishes Roy a speedy recovery.
