| Dont you wish life was more like TiVo? You could fast-forward, rewind and pause as needed. Fast-forward would come in handy during those times when your patience is short lived. While in line for Space Mountain at Disney World, you could fast forward a little bit and before you know it, youre flying through space. You could rewind the parts of life that you wish you had paid better attention. Like when you are in the middle of a meeting and all of the sudden all eyes are on you and it appears as though they are expecting some sort of response. You could press pause during those fleeting moments of pure, unadulterated joy. Life is too short not to take a deep breath every once in a while and take it all in. The PSU Preview Staff cant help but wonder what Auburn and Tennessee would do with a little TiVo magic. Tennessee is probably thinking about fast-forwarding past the boring match-up this weekend. After all, the Vols host the Georgia Bulldogs next week. Thats a real match up. This game is a sleeper. (Or is it???) The Vols would probably like to rewind to the beginning of last weeks game against South Carolina. It was a little embarrassing to be caught off guard by Lou Holtzs Gamecocks. After appearing to struggle throughout the game, Tennessee finally walked away with a hard fought 23-20 win in overtime. Tennessee was probably also thinking that it would have been nice to have the pause feature and really have the chance to relish the win over rival Florida. Tennessee QB Casey Clausen took the time to appreciate the win at The Swamp when he climbed up on the bandleader ladder post-game and directed the Tennessee marching band playing Rocky Top. Auburn, on the other hand, would probably like to fast-forward to a point in the season when they will be taken more seriously. Auburn comes into the week with a 2-2 record overall, (1-0 in the conference) having posted two impressive wins in the past two outings. Unfortunately their wins come against two unimpressive opponents Vanderbilt (45-7) and Western Kentucky (48-3). As the team tries to pull itself together after two early season losses that took the wind out of their collective sails, they yearn to be taken more seriously again in the polls and by the experts who gave up on them. Though the Auburn offense struggled early in the season, it seems like they are getting in their groove these days. Auburn QB Jason Campbell completed 12-of-13 passes and RB Brandon Jacobs racked up 103 yards rushing last week. Though the offense has taken a few weeks to get in synch, Auburns defensive unit ranks second nationally giving up only 237.5 yards per game. Auburn would undoubtedly choose to rewind to the morning of August 30th before they faced the Southern Cal Trojans. This was supposed to be a marquee match up. They ended up getting dismantled at home 23-0. They obviously were not paying attention during their season opener. Nor did it seem they were paying attention the next week when they faced Georgia Tech and posted their second loss 17-3. The Tigers would probably like to hit the pause button during the preseason and savor their status. The Tigers were ranked No. 6 and were touted by many to be in contention for the National Title. Hopefully the match up this week will be another exciting SEC thriller. The Staff will have the TiVo remote on hand throughout. You never know when you are going to have to fast-forward, rewind, or pause. Final Score: Tennessee 10 - Auburn 17 |
