| As PSU Preview predicted, the 15th ranked Virginia Cavaliers got stampeded on the road in South Carolina. In what appeared to be a defensive struggle early on, the Gamecocks blew it open on a 99 yard pass for a touchdown that ultimately destroyed the Cavaliers. After trailing 3-7 in the second quarter, the Gamecocks scored 31 unanswered points in their upset victory. With Virginia�s highly touted QB Matt Schaub out of the game with a shoulder injury, the Gamecocks held the Cavaliers to 170 total yards � 116 of which came on the ground. Virginia couldn�t get any offensive production and was only 2-14 on third down conversions and garnered only seven first downs. In what looked like a close game on paper, it ended up being a blowout.
