Week Twelve

Denise Butterfield, a 69-year old woman in Daytona Beach, Florida, needed to renew her drivers license. So, Denise hopped in her car and headed over to her neighborhood DMV on Thursday.

While pulling into the handicap space at the DMV, her car suddenly, and unexplainably, jumped the curb and smacked into the front of the building, narrowly missing two people sitting on a bench.

According to Denises recount of the story, she never hit the accelerator. The gas engaged itself."

Obviously, Denise was given a ticket for careless driving. Incidentally, she was also given a renewed drivers license.

Isnt this just like college football?

You screw up big time and yet you still get another shot at the glory. Just look at the teams that are vying for a shot at the National Championship game.

There are three one-loss teams with a shot at the
Sugar Bowl: USC, LSU and Ohio State.

If you ask the PSU Preview Staff, the team that is most reminiscent of Denise is
Ohio State. They have had several harrowingly close calls where the car has jumped the curb, but not quite smacked into the building. The most recent close call coming against our beloved Nittany Lions, where it was a DMV official, dressed in black and white, standing at the door that stopped the car from hitting the building.

The Staff usually
likes to spread
the love when
picking an upset
of the week, but
we are inexplicably
drawn to the
Buckeyes like a
moth to a flame
when it comes
time for upset
picking. Lets say
that time and
again, like Denise's
accelerator, the
Buckeyes just
engage
themselves into
an upset pick.

The Buckeyes are taking on the
Purdue Boilermakers, a team very close to the Staffs heart.

Ohio State ranks 99th in total offense, but the Buckeye defense is 5th overall. The Boilermakers will be traveling to
Columbus with the countrys 10th ranked defense and 62nd ranked total offense. What this means is that the score is going to be low on a sloppy, wet, cold day in the Horseshoe.

Ohio State will be taking on rival
Michigan next week, so we could play the looking ahead card.  The Staff doesnt need to pull that card out this week. This is simply a matter of appeasing the Gods of college football.

You can only tap the DMV front door with your bumper so many times before you break through.

Should people like Denise really have licenses and should teams like Ohio State really be in contention of the National Title?
