Blue Devils Split Key Doubleheader
Righty-lefty combo holds Wolfpack at Bay
    Head coach Ron Nichols continues to get quality starts from his starting pitching this fall.  Dwight Lambert pitched seven innings and allowed only four hits in a 5-2 losing effort.  In the nightcap, Justin Tucker pitched a three hitter and struck out five as his Devils got some run support for him.  The Blue Devils won the second game 6-2.

     Penn State took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning as Brad Dean and John Rosati drove back to back doubles up the right field hill.  John Rosati was knocked in by Trent Berner's single which was his sixth RBI in his first three games. 
     The Wolfpack scored a run on defensive miscues in the third innings as Bob Bowser was issued a two out walk and scored on a throwing error by the Blue Devil centerfielder. 
     The Blue Devils would never put together a substantial threat in the game  The Wolfpack scored four runs in the sixth inning to put the game in their hands.  The runs were scored on only two hits, as the Blue Devils continued to give outs away in the field. 
     Despite the loss, a solid pitching effort was turned in by Dwight Lambert (7 Innings, 2 ER, 6K 4BB)

Westmoreland 2

    The Blue Devils bounced back from the loss with a better defensive effort in more overall focus.  The team only committed one error and had nine hits at the plate. 
    Westmoreland scored first in the third inning Matt Ankeny was issued a leadoff walk.  He was moved the third on a groundout and an error and scored on Bob Bowser's sacrifice fly.  Westmoreland got their other run on doubles by Ankeny and Matt McCain in the fourth inning.  The run gave the Wolfpack a 2-0 advantage.
     The Blue Devils tied the score in the bottom of the fourth inning when Mike Spisak  reached on an error, which scored Trent Berner.  Dan Hileman singled home Rick Dietz, whole reached on a base hit.   The fourth inning ended with the score tied at two.
     The Blue Devils scored the decisive run in the fifth inning.  John Rosati started the rally with a one out single and scored on Trent Berner's RBI single.  The Blue Devils added three more in the sixth inning to seal the win.  Hileman, Dean, and Halsey each had hits in the sixth.
