| Penn State Beaver improved its record to 8-3 with a convincing win over Penn State Fayette. The Blue Devils played like a team on a mission in pounding thirteen hits. Rick Dietz raised his batting average to .448 with his 4-4 effort. Lefthanded pitcher Justin Tucker pitched a complete game five hitter and picked up his second win of the season. Tucker's earned run average remains a meager 1.50, while the staff's ERA is at 2.29. The Blue Devils play six games in the next four days, a span of their schedule that could define their fall season. The Devils loaded the bases as Mike Berwick reached on an error, and John Rosati and Ron Glass singled. | the Fayette right fielder made a tremendous catch off the ricochet and got the ball in quickly. Two more runners, including Berner, would score as Mike Meerdo plated Glass on a groundout and Rick Dietz cleared the bases with a triple. The Blue Devils were retired quietly for three consecutive innings before scoring two more runs in the fifth inning. Rick Dietz singled and was moved to second on Dan Hileman's groundout. Brad Mustio doubled Dietz in and was scored on Brad Dean's hit. Fayette got on the board with two runs in the top of the sixth. These runs seemed to do more harm than good as it may have fueled the Blue Devil onslaught that occurred in the sixth inning. Penn State Beaver scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to insure the ten run rule would be installed in this game.
