| An Eerie Sweep Blue Devils take two from Mercyhurst Northeast |
| A long trip was made worthwhile as the Penn State Beaver Blue Devils swept two games from the Saints of Mercyhurst Northeast. Craig Herrmann and Mike Berwick were the recipients of victories on the mound, while several Blue Devils starred at the plate. Penn State Beaver 12 Mercyhurst Northeast 7 Penn State's six run third inning was the team's first scoring event of the day. Brad Cochran, Ron Glass, Rick Dietz, and Dan Hileman ripped singles in the inning to open a commanding 6-0 lead. Despite the six run thumping the Saints took, they hung in the game with two runs in the bottom of the third and another three runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Blue Devils answered these runs in the innings to follow however. Penn State extended the lead to 12-5 before Steve Pflugh finished the seventh inning for his second save of the season. Rick Dietz had three hits in the game while Dan Hileman drove in four runs. Ryan Campbell drove in three runs in the game. Dustin Swarfager was the starting pitcher and pitched four complete before giving way to winning pitcher Craig Herrmann. BOX SCORE |

| PSU BEAVER 5 CCAC Allegheny 4 Mike Berwick pitched a commanding five plus innings before giving way to Steve Pflugh, who bailed him out of a jam in the sixth inning. Pflugh came on in the sixth inning with men on first and second and no outs. He struck out the first batter he faced, induced a ground ball to second base, and a harmless fly to center to close the frame. The Blue Devils came out of the gate with a quick two spot. John Rosati drew a walk and was tripled home by Trent Berner. Berner scored on Mike Meerdo's sacrifice fly to center field. The Devils scored the decisive two runs in the sixth inning on singles by Mike Meerdo and Mike Spisak, who both scored on passed balls. BOX SCORE |
