Blue Devils Win Ugly
Walks, lack of clutch hitting does not deter Blue Devil Sweep
The Blue Devils proved to the conference on Saturday that they could win games in a struggle.  Saturday's doubleheader seemed to be a struggle for the Devils most of the afternoon.  Dwight Lambert saved the victory in the first game by throwing a six hitter and allowing only one run.  The Devils struggled to score in the game, plating only two runs
Chris Thumm - Three hits in second game back.
In the second game, the bats were alive, but Blue Devil hurlers struggled to throw strikes.  The staff issued eleven free passes, but only allowed three runs to cross.  The most impressive aspect of the sweep was the fact the Blue Devils did not commit one error in either game.

Lambert is used to pitching with suspect run support.  In three starts, the Blue Devils have only scored four runs for the righthander (1-2).  The Devils scored enough for the victory, however, which is all that is important.

The Blue Devils scored one run each in the third and fourth inning.  In the third, John Rosati singled, stole second, and moved to third on Ron Glass's groundout.  He scored on a botched pickoff attempt by McKeesport catcher Chuck Waney.
In the fourth, Andy Fry singled with two out and scored on Ryan Campbell's two strike base hit.  Lambert would make the lead stick, retiring the side in order in three of the game's

Lambert issued a two out walk in the sixth inning that was followed by a single.  He pitched out of the inning with a strikeout.
