Blue Devil Pitchers Shine in Split
Lambert, Herrmann Masterful in CCAC Allegheny Games
A pair of gems were cashed in by the pitching staff of Penn State Beaver on Saturday in the team's two WPCC games with CCAC Allegheny.
In the opener, Dwight Lambert took a tough loss as he permitted only four hits and three unearned runs in the team's 3-2 loss.  In the nightcap, lefthander Craig Herrmann scattered seven hits in six innings, and allowed four runs in the 5-4 win.
Brad Mustio had four hits in the double header.

CCAC Allegheny 3

The Blue Devils continued to struggle offensively in the team's 3-2 loss.  For the second consecutive game, the team failed to score more than two runs and only managed five hits. To make matters worse for the Blue Devils was the four errors the team committed.  Each of the errors played a part in the three runs scored by CCAC Allegheny.
In the first inning, CCAC scored two runs, both unearned. Craig Morgan and Drew Slavicek knocked singles in the inning, but a costly error on the team's first batter set up the inning.
The Blue Devils chipped away at the two runs in the second and third inning.  Designated hitter Mike Meerdo led off the second inning with a triple and scored on Ryan Campbell's double play.  In the third inning, Brad Mustio singled and scored on Mike Spisak's base hit.
CCAC Allegheny secured the win in the bottom of the seventh inning when a two out grounder knocked in the game winner.
