Tucker's Brilliant Debut all for naught in 2-1 loss.

Justin Tucker's debut as a Blue Devils was stellar despite not being credited with a win.  He overcame a tender back to pitch ten solid innings.  He scattered nine hits and struck out twelve batters.  Tucker dodged trouble in the first and second innings to settle in nicely.  In fact, after the second inning, Tucker retired his next ten batters in a row.
While Tucker was fantastic at the plate, the Blue Devil offense struggled.  The biggest Devil threat came in the third inning when Dan Hileman (2 hits) and Ron Glass (3 hits) led the inning off with consecutive singles.  Rick Dietz moved them both

niney feet with a sacrifice bunt.  The threat was quickly squelched however when Brad Mustio's line drive to the pitcher's left side was caught, doubling up Hileman at third.
The first run of the game was scored in the Butler seventh when Brad McCollough led off with a double and scored on Larry Foster's base hit.  The Devils quickly tied the game though in their half of the inning.
With two outs, Mike Meerdo fought off a breaking pitch a knocked a single up the middle. He moved to second on a botched pickoff attempt and was driven home by Dan Hileman's second hit of the day.
The Pioneers of Butler scored the winning run in the top of the tenth with three singles from the bottom of the order.  Butler improved to 4-0 with the win, PSU Beaver dropped to 2-1.
