| The Blue Devils maintained a third place tie in the WPCC with a 12-4 lashing of CCAC Boyce Campus. Brad Cochran was credited with the win on the mound after throwing four innings in his first college start. Curt Halsey finished the game with an effective five innings of relief. The Blue Devils moved their record to 4-2. CCAC BOYCE 4 PSU BEAVER 12 Penn State Beaver scored two runs in each of the first two innings to jump out to a slim early lead. In the Devil first, Mike Meerdo and Mike Berwick drove in runs with singles. The second inning was spearheaded by base hits from Ryan Campbell, John Rosati, and Trent Berner. Berner's base hit plated the two runs. Despite these offensive efforts, the Blue Devils came came to bat in the third inning with a 4-4 tie. It was at this point the Devil bats really got going. PSU Beaver scored four times in the third inning as Mike Berwick, Trent Berner drove in runs. Rosati also had a base hit in the inning. Much of the offense was fueled by CCAC miscues in the field, but PS Beaver made the mistakes hurt. |

| After the four run assault the game was never in doubt. Curt Halsey came on in relief of Brad Cochran and shut out Boyce for five innings. Halsey allowed only three hits and struck out seven. The only negative in Halsey's outing was the five walks, but he was able to get out of jams when needed. The Blue Devils pounded out twenty hits in the contest and were led by Mike Meerdo's four hit day. Rick Dietz and Trent Berner contributed three hits each. Berner had three RBI to go along with the hits. The defensive play of the game came in the top of fifth inning with two outs and the bases loaded. Boyce was threatening to regain momentum when third baseman Mike Meerdo speared a hard grounder right above the third base bag at full extension. He nonchalantly touched the base and squelched the rally. Meerdo raised his fall season average to .522 with his big day. BOX SCORE |
