| This teacher was born and raised, as they say, in a small town called Ada, Oklahoma. She spent the first two years after graduating high school serving her country in the United States Army. Then she ended up in another small town by the name of Beckley, West Virginia. Here she attended college and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. Then after teaching forteen plus years in West Virginia, she decided it was time for a change and left for Columbus, Georgia. She was welcomed on to the faculty of Downtown Elementary Magnet Academy and has been there ever since (five years). All together, she has spent a total of twenty years in the classroom teaching to the best and the brightest. Three of her passions are reading, writing, and, you guessed it, arithmetic - otherwise known as Math to her students. She tries to impart these passions to all of the children that she teaches. She loves to read and has for as long as she can remember, mostly due to her favorite and only aunt inTexas who constantly bought her books for birthdays and Christmases. She is also somewhat of a writer and one day hopes to be a published children's book author - watch out J.K. Rowlings. Her family consists of, as her students all know, a 2-year-old boxer puppy, Alexandria, and a 16-year-old black cat, Cagney. She feels blessed to also have many friends, in West Virginia as well as in Columbus, who are like family. She attends workshops and conferences, always striving to be more knowledgeable and current in the field of education. Serving on many teams and committees, her favorite is probably the Technology Team at DEMA. Student Council advisor is also a position that she enjoys. Please feel free to contact this featured teacher by e-mail as she would love to hear from you! |
