Yosemite Hike

On a break in the wrestling tour Mike and I headed out on a 7-day hike in the backcountry of Yosemite. I had never done anything like this and was a little nervous. Mike even told me that I would probably hate it for the first couple of days. Boy he couldn't have been more right, I was miserable. But waking up that first morning in a meadow with no one else around was the most amazing feeling.

Taking a break
This has to be one of my favourite pictures of Mike.
Taking a break from hiking he looks so at home on the trail.

Back country Yosemite Together in the high country

On our 2nd day out Hetch Hetchy Dam was our destination. After hiking most of the day we were so happy to finally get our first view of the dam. We had to stop and take pictures. Boy did he love that remote for his camera.

He actually had me take this picture. Due to the fact that his pants, jacket, shoes and backpack were all matching.

what a dork

How pretty, can you tell he was tired of all my pictures?

We saw so many beautiful things on that hike.

This in just one of the many fields of flowers that we had hiked through.

Another great picture of Mike hiking through a field of treesThat had been burnt a few years earlier in the big fires in Yosemite.

Fern grove

Hiking through these huge fern groves was really awesome. At some places they were almost over our heads.

Shortly after this picture we were attacked by a swarm of mosquitoes. Mike was behind me and I could tell he was running. Before I could turn around he was yelling, "RUN". He almost ran me over. We got into the sun and dropped our backpacks and they were covered with mosquitoes. I have never seen anything like that it was crazy.

On the map this looked like a little stream but when we got there it was a bit bigger. Mike had to swim the river and rig up a line to haul all of aur stuff over. We took everything out of our backpacks and sent it over one at a time. Thankfully there was another couple that helped us send things over. Then it was my turn to swim !  The water was moving so fast that Mike actually had to stand in the water to catch me.

Over the river and through the woods

Our last night on the trail

This is our camp our last night out in Pate Valley.

While we were out we saw a bear, swam a river and were attacked by mosquitoes and I was really sad to see it come end. I learned a lot on that trip , how to work with someone , how to trust and how to love someone. It was on the way home from this trip that Mike asked me "Could you ever see yourself living with me?" My only response was "I couldn't imagine NOT living with you". So far we had only been on the road for a couple of months. So making the decision to move in together was huge for both of us. While out on the next leg of the tour we decided that we wanted to move to Tahoe and live with Mark and some of his other friends.
