Modene and Sue
Oaxaca Plaza, June 2002

The Final Photos of
Sue and Modene in Mexico

We left Oaxaca on June 15th.  We had hoped to follow the old highway along the top of the Sierra Madre mountains but couldn't find it so had to cross through Mexico City (22,000,000 population).  Gracias a Dios, we made it in record time and spent the night and following morning in beautiful San Miguel Allende.  We arrived in Austin on the 17th and moved on to the cool mountains of Angel Fire, New Mexico.

One of three snow-capped volcanoes
around Puebla, north of Oaxaca.

One of our last breakfasts
of huevos rancheros.

Relaxing on the zocalo at San Miguel
Allende halfway through our return.

A magnificent carved wooden door
near our hotel.

San Miguel's incredible cathedral,
designed by an Indian from books
he read about Europe.

The zocalo and cathedral.

The city of San Miguel is a national
historical shrine and the architecture
is like a movie set.

Modene in the dining room of our hotel
showing a painting of San Miguel.

The lobby of Casa de las Monjas, home of
the nuns, where we stayed.  It's just a name
or they wouldn't have let us in.

Sue in the back seat on the way home.
The painting above her head would have
killed us if we stopped quickly.

Transferring all their treasures from Bill's SUV to Sue's SUV.  Quite a load!
