Budapest - September 2003 (Part II)
Having a rich and long history means that Budapest has many monuments.  Castle Hill is one of the most impressive and underappreciated in Europe.
Castle Hill (Varnegyed)as seen from the Pest Embankment.
A close-up of the Royal Palace.  The statue of Eugene Savoy is in the foreground.
As this couple proves, the views from Castle Hill are simply stunning.  Elizabeth Island, Parliment, the Danube River, and the Pest side of the city can be appreciated in new light from here.
A walk around Castle Hill will reveal pieces of history in the most surprising places.  These cannon barrels are sitting in a park just across from residential housing.
Heroes Square at the end of Andrassy ut.  The tall column supports a statue of the Archangel Gabriel, while the smaller collonades house the central figures of Hungarian history.
This is a close-up of Stephen I, the founder and patron saint of Hungary.
An interior view of Market Hall which lies just over the Liberty Bridge on the Pest side.
A night view of the Hungarian Parliment, from the Buda side of the Danube.
