Southern Spain - Summer 1986
Some shots of Spain.  I was fortunate enough to spend a summer on the Costa del Sol, on an exchange program.  I learned about wine, women, and song, as well as learing Castillian Spanish, which I still know today.  I first heard the song "Tarzan Boy" (by the now deceased artist Maurizio Bassi, aka Baltimora) in Spain, and was hooked on new wave from then onwards.
A local peasant in Albox, a small mountain town where I lived in my host family's summer home.
The Plaza Mejor in Madrid.
Mojacar--a classic Mediterraean sugar-cube village built onto a rocky hillside.
The rather rocky beach near Mojacar on the Costa del Sol.
The town of Aguadulce, outside the provincial capitol, Almeria.
Marquis-stone of the Villa de Oria, a mountain town that has stood since medieval times.
A view of Oria from the bell-tower of the local church.  I managed to climb up a rickety stone and wood staircase to be rewarded for this view.
A typical view of the southern Spanish countryside.  The climate to the south is dry and arid, in contrast to the north, which is more alluvial.
