' Introduction to PSP '

The Photographic Society of Pakistan (PSP) is a non-governmental and non-profit making organization working for the promotion of art photography in Pakistan. It was established in 1950 and over the years has developed into Pakistan's national federation of photography. It is working in close collaboration with the Government of Pakistan and the private sector.

PSP has affiliated societies in major cities of Pakistan and as such is a truly representative body at the national level. These societies, though totally independent in administration and activities, work as chapters of PSP. In cities without active groups, PSP is represented by Honorary Representatives.

Photographic Society of Pakistan is a member federation of FIAP ( The International Federation of Photographic Art ) and FAPA ( The Federation of Asian Photographic Art ) and represents both the organizations in Pakistan. PSP has also established close relationship with photographic federations of many other countries including The Photographic Society of America (PSA), The Royal Photographic Society (RPS), The Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) and Image sans Frontiere (ISF). Honorary Representatives also represent PSP in many other countries.

The Photographic Society of Pakistan primarily concerns itself with the promotion and preservation of art photography in Pakistan and projection of the works of Pakistani photographers' abroad. Besides its basic objectives, PSP is also extending significant contribution with a view to re-discover and disseminate the true image of Pakistan.
