Group Rules

I know there will be lots to read here, but I am trying to cover everything that most people want to know.   There is a need for all of this, and you will find out once you have joined.  So, I've put together all these pages to try and answer all question and to let you know what we have for you and will do for you.  Please understand that mistakes will be made and is expected so don't worry; it will all become second nature to you in time.  It all is part of the overall learning experiance of PSP!

1. No one and I mean no one will post virus alerts.  Only I will post virus alerts.  I am very knowledgeable in all areas of computers, software, networking, web designs, internet, email, and viruses for over 20 years.  I know there may be many who are also very knowledagle as well, but if you have a need to let anyone know, please contact me first.  I will check it out for validation, and I will post with your name who submitted the tip.  If you chose to post, you will be warned once.  If you do again, you will be unsubbed.

2. This is a must do requirement.  After approving your membership, please go to the Database section in the group and fill out the database* named PSP LEARNINGTREE with your first name at least - last name not required and not your screen name; city, and or state (don't have to put city), country, and put the level of experience you have with PSP so we can design the group for every level in the future.  Later, if you feel you have advanced higher, then you can change it.  You will be subject to being unsubbed if not filled out.  Use only numeric code as below for experience level. We will assign you a mentor based on your level of experience. You will answer to and ask questions to your mentor or to Myself or Chanda.

0 = Beginner - does not know much
1 = Novice - some knowledge of PSP
2 = Intermediate - pretty good with PSP but need to learn more
3 = Advanced - pretty much knows everything but wants to learn more and able to help others
4 = Expert (these are very few) - knows Everything about PSP in all versions and can help others. People like popular Lori Davis is an expert in PSP and has written many books on the subject matter.

* The reason for that Database input is so that we can see where everyone is from but also what level experience you are and version(s) or PSP you have.   Hopefully, we will have many from everywhere. ;-)   Also, I need to know who you are so you won't accidentally get unsubbed.  The database is private only to our group and no one outside the group will be able to view.   The info shall not be passed out outside the group.  The use of the profile in your email is your personal preference but is suggested not to put any info in there (age is a must).  Your Yahoo personal profile can be seen by anyone anywhere who is doing searches.   That's the reason for the database - no one outside can see the information.   If you change your email, please update the datebase too.   I use the emails there to send out notices if any and you may get left out.

3. This is a MUST participate group.  New Members - Failure to do the minimum of ANY four (5) and one MUST be from the harder selection required tutorials in any order the first month may possible be unsubbed.   We have had many bad lurkers in the past.   If you joined within a week or less before the end of our tutorial time period, you have that week's grace period to wait until the next new month's list. If you request a list, then you must show one results; otherwise, it is expected that you participate that month with any 5 completed tutorials in any order.   A list will be sent to you after your introduction to the group.   Failure to do anything the next month you will be subject to be unsubbed.   If you have a reason for not doing tutorials for the month, please email Chanda and Me in advance, NOT afterwards, so we can put it in the Member's Excuse folder so not get unsubbed.  If you are going out of town, family problem, etc., please let us know so I/we can put you on no mail if you forget.  I will not send out notices or reminders.   This is YOUR responsibility.

4. Everyone will be on individual mail and set to Traditional and will not change it except after a written email excuse is sent to Chanda and myself.  There will be no digest, special notices, or no mail at any other time.  You can only change it after we get your email and respond back to you that we received it.  They will be filed in the Excuse Folder I have.

5. New members will be welcomed by our Welcoming Committee.  They will also provide your with the tutorial list and where to get hard to find supplies after your introduction to the group.   They will help you with any questions and help be your guide until you get familiar with the way things a done around here and you are comfortably settled in!

6. There will NO aking or sharing Warez software or utilities in this group.   You may NOT ask for anything that is commerical or paid for software or utilities, e.g., any versions of PSP, filters such as Filters Unlimited, and etc.   You have been forwarned and is your responsibility to have read these rules.   There will be NO warning and is subject to removal by me, the owner, at my disgression.   Buy them or get them somewhere else NOT though MY group.   Period.

7. Use of any member's work is prohibited.   Their work is copyrighted to them.   You may write and ask any member if you can use their work and for what purpose.   If you get permission, you must give credit.   You may use my work outside my group for other creations, i.e., stationary, as long as you give credit to my work.

8. Copyright rules will be adhered to here in this group.   I do not want my site closed down.  If you do use an artist picture, graphics, or other design, please read their Terms of Use or get their permission.  I am also an artist and know most artists' work.  In my opinion, this is a closed group, not like a newsgroup that thousands of people view 24/7.  I see no harm within the group to post their work in frame tutorials to use as a learning tool.  What you do in your private life with your designs with these artist's work is your business.  You are responsible to use your own judgement, and I don't have the time to police everyone.  Make sure you put the copyright sign and artist on the picture NOT yours and provide a link to their web site in your postings if you know it and would be appreciated.  It is not yours, only the frame or background, etc. that you create is yours and also abiding by the Terms and Use of the Tutorial writers. This also includes sending tutorials via email to anyone and especially to the group. This is the same as stealing bandwidth. Only the group owner/co-owner will send tutorial LINKS, not the web pages out to the members.

Sharing done within this group is for personal use only - NOT FOR PROFIT - and is covered by the Fair Use Act:
US Code Title 17 Chapter 1, §107, Limitations on exclusive rights: Fair use.
NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT IS INTENDED.   If you are an artist who feels that your copyright rules have been broken, because you do not allow your artwork to be shared, please contact us and we will notify our group members immediately.

This is private email and is covered by TITLE 18 , PART I, CHAPTER 47 , Sec. 1030.and Internet Privacy Law.  Sharing of emails and any member's work without their prior written concent is in violation of the this law and strictly forbidden.

Note:  This is a structured, intensive, very well organized group - a true learning group as you would see in any other school of learning.  The volume of work is very high and lots of emails - over 500 monthly.  There is no chit chat going on here in the group.   The people here are serious and do not play around or lazy.  There is a need for rules and guidelines to keep up with everyone and what they are doing.  If you feel you can not go by rules and guidelines, then this is not the group for you.   This one of the few true learning groups around.

NO lurkers allowed.
