Children
of the Corn Summary |
Vegetarianism is
now main stream for American teenagers. Some become vegetarians because
of concerns for cruelty done to animal raised for food. Some stop eating
meat because of concerns for ecological destruction. Some are influenced
by stars whom they regard as their role models. Parents’ reaction
is not very positive as most of them are worried if their children will
get enough nutrition, but according to experts nutrition doesn’t
seem to be a problem. Vegetarian kids face
many challenges in their vegetarian life as well. They prefer junk food
to healthy food. Therefore, the vegetarian food they have is usually not
very nutritious, like french fries. Then, they have very limited options
at school cafeteria. Also, they don’t know what and where to eat
when they hang out. Fitting into the family eating routine is another
big problem. Hence, some kids have to plan and prepare their own meals,
whereas some parents have to prepare extra meals for their vegetarian
kids to make sure that they get proper diet.
