| ENGINEERING PROJECT | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| STERILIZATION OF TALC USING PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Company : Johnson & Johnson, Mulund | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Description : The objective of the project was to study the functioning
and programming of a PLC using ladder logic diagrams used for controlling the sterilization of baby talcum powder. |

| DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Programming Language : C++ | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Description : A basic database management software that allowed the user to create a database, create tables, insert rows into the tables, select rows or columns from the tables and delete rows. It supported only one condition in the 'where' clause.The querying syntax was similar to SQL. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| MULTIPROGRAMMING IN NACHOS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Programming Language : Java | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Description : Nachos (Not Another Completely Heuristic Operating
System) is an instructional software which is a simple but functional operating
system. The following features were implemented: a. System Call and Exception Handling System calls such as 'Exec', 'Join', 'Read', 'Write' etc were implemented. Also the Nachos Kernel was 'bullet proofed'from common user errors. b. Multiprogramming with time slicing The base Nachos code is restricted to running one user program at a time. We implemented the allocation of physical memory frames so that multiple programs can be loaded into memory at once. Also basic round robin scheduling was done by using timer interrupts to force threads to yield after a certain number of ticks. |

| AIRLINE RESERVATION SYSTEM | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Back End : Oracle 8i | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Front End : Visual Basic | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Description : The reservation system for airlines had the following
features a.Issuing of unique PNR and ticket numbers to the passengers b.Proper allocation of seats for direct as well as hop to hop flights. c.Other features such as provisions for adding /removing sectors,canceling /changing flight timings and also handling the status of the tickets as 'blocked', 'booked','waiting','cancelled' etc. |

| SIMULATION OF DATALINK LAYER | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Programming language : Java | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Description : The functionalities of the Logical Link Control(LLC) and Medium Access Sub(MAC) Layers were implemented for broadcast channels. The various parameters like the Simulation time,Number of hosts etc are read from the configuration file. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The responsibilities of the LLC included : a.Framing b.Error detection using CRC c.Flow Control Simple Stop and wait algorithm is used for flow control. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The responsibilities of the MAC included : a.Sensing the channel using Carrier sense multiple access with collision detection (CSMA/CD) protocol. If collision occured then CSMA/CD 1-persistent binary exponential back off algorithm is applied to resolve the conflict. |
