Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to network two computer's using Windows 98 without running through a hub?  Yes, I would suggest making sure that your NIC cards are the same or compatible in both computers.  This does require the knowledge of basic networking and I would suggest having someone with experience set the network up.

How will I know if a game will run on my system?  As obvious as it may seem, I always suggest reading the System Requirements on the side of the box.  They are usually pretty accurate in predicting how a game will do on a system.  The manufacturer offers this information in an effort to keep you from having to return their game.  Under the system requirements it will tell you what type of processor you will need, video card or video accelerator, how much hard disk space, plus the amount of RAM you will need.

How do I know if I'm getting a good computer?  This can sometimes be a toughie.  While I do not recommend store bought PC's, their are some basics to go by for any system.  First and foremost you will want to have a processor of no less than 400 to 450 MHz.  Make sure it is made by Intel, AMD, or Pentium.  You will want to get one with at least 64 megs of RAM.  Look for a hard drive that is at least 8 gig or more.  Get a pc with a video card that is not integrated with the system and try to make sure the sound card is not integrated either.  A modem that is 56 kflex v.90 x2.  A network card is optional.  USB ports are preferred but also optional.  Finally, you should check to make sure that it is running the latest Operating System or OS.  Oh, don't forget to make sure it has a 3.5" floppy drive and some type of CD Rom, DVD, or CD Writer for disc access and read.
