Phi Sigma Kappa founded on March 15 by six sophomores at the Massachusetts Agricultural College, now the University of Massachusetts
1878
The Signet, the official fraternity magazine, was first published and the first General Convention was held in Amherst, Massachusetts
1888
First move made toward a national organization when Beta Chapter was founded at Union College
1909
Phi Sigma Kappa helped to organize and became a charter member of the NIC
1910
Phi Sigma Epsilon founded on February 20 by seven students at the Kansas State Teachers College, now Emporia State University
1920-1930
Phi Sigma Kappa's original conservative expansion policy gave way to relatively rapid expansion; Twenty-one new chapters installed
1923
On Phi Sigma Kappa's 50th anniversary, a memorial tablet, "The Shrine", was placed on Old North Hall where the idea of the Fraternity was originally conceived
1927
Phi Sigma Epsilon formed a union with Sigma Delta Tau of Kirksville State Teachers College and Pi Sigma Epsilon of Pittsburg State Teachers College to organize Phi Sigma Epsilon National Fraternity
1938
First national headquarters office of Phi Sigma Kappa established in Chicago, IL
1946
Immediately after World War II, all 16 chapters of Phi Sigma Epsilon were reactivated; All chapters had ceased operating during the war
1947
The Phi Sigma Kappa Foundation, Inc. was established
1948
Adoption of the current Phi Sigma Kappa initiation ritual as authored by Herbert L. Brown.
1950-1960
NIC status is obtained by Phi Sigma Epsilon, which grows to 37 chapters
1951
First full-time Executive Offices estabiished by Phi Sigma Epsilon
1956
The Phi Sigma Kappa National Headquarters were moved to Drexel Hill, PA
1959
Phi Sigma Kappa reincorporated under the laws of the State of Delaware
1960
Old North Hall was demolished and replaced by Machmer Hall; "The Shrine" was embedded in the new building's wall; Phi Sigma Epsilon celebrated its 50th Anniversary at its founding site in Emporia Kansas. A founding plaque was placed in the Student Union Building
1960-1970
Phi Sigma Epsilon grows to 60 chapters
1973
Phi Sigma Kappa celebrated the Centennial at the Convention in Amherst, MA
1976
The Executive Offices of Phi Sigma Kappa were moved to Indianapolis, ID
1977
Administration structure of Phi Sigma Kappa was changed to improve service to chapters
1979
The Memorial Endowment Foundation of Phi Sigma Kappa Inc. was established
1984
The Phi Sigma Kappa Foundation and Memorial Endowment Foundation merge, under the name Phi Sigma Kappa Foundation
1985
In the largest merger ever in the fraternity world, Phi Sigma Epsilon and Phi Sigma Kappa merge under the name Phi Sigma Kappa
1992
The Phi Sigma Kappa Foundation purchases the Fraternity's current home in Indianapolis
