Isle of Grey ~ Campaign Setting
The Isle of Grey campaign is a sub-campaign based on the War of the Harvest, Seasons of Unrest & Trial By Fire trilogy. This campaign takes place primarily during the actual events of the Trial By Fire campaign and supports characters of any race or class that are suited to an active social climate, restricted living area and inter-planar/intra-planar travel. To make such travel possible, the island is shrouded in a negative plane protection spell. This makes it impossible for any undead creature to approach within one knot (1 knot/6,086 ft.) of the island. Doing so would render the creature immobile as well as alert the Overseer of the island to the intrusion. This protection was cast by a goddess and will remain in tact until said goddess is discovered and slain and that just isn't gonna happen no matter what you do. :) Concerning the active social climate and restricted living area, this is a small island; approximately three miles by three miles at it's furthest points in each direction, thus, all inhabitants are aware of each other and possibly on a first name basis. Furthermore, the restricted space prohibits large creatures such as dragons from inhabiting or even visiting for long periods. Even were such a visit to be attempted, any wyrm-kin would likely be greeted with distrust and scorn considering the events taking place on Sol' Dennai at the moment.
Isle of Grey ~ The Story
After taking hiatus from Rhydin to gather his strength and his thoughts, Thalen found himself on the grouping of islands called Sol' Dennai in the Etaciun Plane. It was there that he encountered an acquaintance he'd not seen in a long time and her name was Driella. Driella, who had once been Thalens young wife, murdered in her sleep for his pride; descended to the smallest of the islands where the two talked without ceasing for nine months. When at last they emerged from the cave in which they had taken shelter, they saw that the islands in the distance burned and the seas surrounding them boiled. All that was once plush and green on the island the two lovers shared was blanketed in soot and ash from the distant battle. The Grand Druid couldn't bear to see such destruction of nature and took up his staff with a grizzled vow to stop the chaos. He was stopped by Driella who sadly took the blame in saying, "Were I listening I might have prevented this. Go now. Take this place we have shared and restore it for it is yours. Never return to me, husband, for loss breeds only more loss."
With those words spoken, Thalen conceded to Driellas wishes. In whispered tones the goddess cast a spell to enable Thalen, and he alone, to teleport the island and all that was upon it through the planes of existence. Straightway, she casts negative plane protections upon he and the island individually. With that she ascended and was to be seen no more by the druid. He took one heart broken glance about this island sheeted in it's grey defection and commanded it away. And so began the travels of the Dark Druid and the Isle of Grey.
