Rulebook - Shops
Shopowners and Craftspersons
Those who would like to try their hand at owning and operating a shop of any sort may apply with the Regent of Commerce for a liscense. The liscensing fee for a shop depends on the level of the shop. All shops must start at level one and increase with time and upgrades to their shop. Shop owners are limited to the type of business they may take part in based on their liscense category. A shop owner may always dispense their wares to a lower category of shop owner. Also, a shop owner may charge as much as they like for an item but be careful that steep prices don't drive you out of business. Previously purchased enhancers may be traded in lieu of BC^ at a rate of no less than 1/3 their original base value (rounded down to the nearest 1).
Due to the fact that Sol' Dennai is an island realm, mining for minerals is an impossibility and items crafted of any metal or alloy are considered worthless as they tend to sink and rust easily. The sought after materials for most durable fabrication are stone, bone, wood, and animal hide. Still, these materials each have their own drawbacks and such must be taken into consideration by crafts people when making an item.
Level One - Trader: May take part in barter of any item but may only exchange items for BC^ with a liscensed Crafter or higher level of shop owner. A Trader may not make their own goods to barter or sale.
Liscense Fee: BC^1'000
Level Two - Merchant: May take part in the barter or sale of any item. A Merchant may not make their own goods to barter or sale.
Liscense Fee: BC^2'000
Level Three - Crafter: May take part in the barter or sale of any item. A Crafter may make their own goods to barter or sell but may not make weapons, armor or tools of any sort.
Liscense Fee: BC^5'000
Level Four - Smith: May take part in the barter or sale of any item. A Smith may make their own goods to barter or sell including enhancements to weapons and armor not to exceed +3 modifications.
Liscense Fee: BC^7'000
Level Five - At Level Five, a shop owner can choose to either become a Master Merchant or a Master Smith.
Liscense Fee: BC^10'000
Master Merchant: May take part in the barter or sale of any item including enhanced weapons and armor not to exceed +3 modifications. A Master Merchant may make their own goods to barter or sell but may not make weapons, armor or tools of any sort.
Master Smith: May take part in the crafting of any item including enhanced weapons and armor up to and including, but not to exceed, +14 modifications. Due to his devotion to his craft, the Master Smith may not take part in private sales or barter of any sort concerning his work.
