The Astral Plane
The Metaphysical Plane as Compared to the Astral Plane
Just beyond the Metaphysical Plane lies the Astral Plane.  The Astral Plane is the realm of shadows that must be felt.  In a truely astral body, you are not a visible 'image' as much as a blur of energy.  I highly recommend this realm for more advanced students because you generally have higher levels residing there.  The only reason I have to explain this is the incredible freedom of energetic movement experienced [there].  Whenever assuming a dragon form, I generally become astral.

In better than a year of training, it is not surprising that I came across many opinions about the Astral Plane, my own included; note that I capitalize the Astral Plan and Metaphysical Plane just the same as you would capitalize Detroit, Illinois. [I do this because it is a name of a place and therefore a proper noun.]
Comparison
In this essay, my purpose is not to insult or claim invalid the opinions of anyone else concerning this matter; it is my philsophy and nothing more unless made so in your own mind.
Try to think of it as one doorway just beyond another.  First, you have the Physical Plane [Material Plane], which is where I sit tying this.  Then you have the Metaphysical Plane, where I could sprout wings and type with newly formed claws.  Then you have the Astral Plane, where I would not be typing at all because I [would be] a freely moving mass of energy.  One is just beyond the other, and so I separate them into individual planes to further simplify training for beginners and/or more advanced students.
The Metaphysical Plane
As the title suggests, I am comparing the two, so I will start off with the realm mor familiar.  The Metaphysical Plane is the realm of shadows that can be seen with the mind's eye.  When taking a student, directing after teaching them the basics of controlling their own elemental energies, I tend to move towards free movement in the Metaphysical Plane.  The numerous beings living [there] are good for both training and future partnerships.  I have always found it a colorful realm(s) where the only limit is your own mental creativity as compared to your energy level.
