Forgotten Innocence

A sweet summer breeze travels through the air
Bringing memories of those days which have since passed by;
Shielded by an aura of naivety,
Playing all day in the hot summer sun
Without a care in the world
As you zap little green martians
With your ultra-cool lazer gun.
O how quickly we leave that carefree innocence behind,
We thrust the weight of the world upon our shoulders
Forgetting the joys we knew as a child.
