Pseudo Science

-Many psionic forces make use of special atoms called psi atoms. Dr. Vayrin and Dr. Willton have constructed a machine which maintains a worldwide Subspace Psi Atom Network (SPAN) that provides psi morphs with psi atoms to make use of.

-Psi atoms have a far more complex subatomic structure than normal atoms. In fact, their subatomic structure is so complex that it can contain partical 'programs' in much the same way that DNA contains protein-based genetic programs. These programs allow psi atoms to react to a psi morph's psionic brain waves in all sorts of ways. However, the unusual subatomic structure of psi atoms also prevents them from being held together by the same energies that hold normal atoms together. While they are in the Subspace Psi Atom Network, they are held together by energies in that network. Once they are drawn out of the SPAN by a psi morph, energy provided by the psi morph holds the psi atoms together. Once the psi morph stops supplying that energy, the psi atoms collapse into particles.

-Even though psi atoms are far more complex than normal atoms, some of them are actually much smaller than normal atoms. One of the ways psi atoms manipulate normal atoms is by entering the normal atoms to give them particle programs, then leaving the normal atoms once the task is complete.

-Vayricite has an even more complex subatomic structure than psi atoms. So far though, no way has been found to 'program' vayricite atoms. Both Dr. Vayrin and Dr. Willton think it is possible for vayricite atoms to gain subatomic programs, and that finding a way to do so would open up truly amazing possibilities.

-Dr. Vayrin and Dr. Willton got the idea for psi atoms during an unsuccessful attempt to artificially produce vayricite.

-The origin of vayricite is a mystery. So far, the only known clue to the mystery is the fact that all known vayricite was found under extremely deep waters.
-The energies inside the bodies of people and robots tend to disrupt psionic energies unless the person or robot willing aids the psionic energies. That's why many psionic forces only affect willing targets and why it's very difficult to destroy a robot (or kill a person) by tearing their insides apart with telekinesis or psi atoms.

-The weapons most commonly used by psi morphs are techpaws, which are high-tech gloves that have built-in weaponry. Sometimes, the gloves will be connected to a powerpack or other device that the psi morph wears.

-Certain psionic forces and disciplines can send a living creature into the Subspace Psi Atom Network and replace the creature's true body with a temporary body that is taken from the SPAN. At the time the force or discipline is prepared, the psi morph constructs a mini-environment within the SPAN that can safely hold the true body of the creature who receives the temporary body. When the temporary body is outside the SPAN (and the true body is in the protective environment within the SPAN,) the temporary body's breathing transfers some of the oxygen to the creature's true body in the SPAN. So far, no other way has been found to adequately supply oxygen to a creature in the SPAN.

-The main difference between a psi morph's brain and the brain of a normal human is the presence of three 'psi lobes' designated psi lobe A, psi lobe B, and psi lobe C. Psi lobe A broadcasts the psi morph's brainwaves beyond his/her brain, which is necessary for all psionics. Psi lobe B converts the brain waves to a format more easily understandable to psi atoms, as well as allow the waves to extend into the SPAN. It is necessary for use of psi atom forces. Psi lobe C converts the brain waves into other types of energy. It is necessary for psi energy forces. Psi Lobe C is also necessary for psi atom forces since it alows the psi morph to supply the psi atoms with energy. So, psi atom forces use all three psi lobes, while psi energy forces just use psi lobes A and C.

-Psi morphs use their psionics in all sorts of ways. For example, a psi morph who is very good at dodging attacks and spotting sneaking enemies might routinely fill the air with energy that amplifies all sound in the area, thus allowing him/her to more easily hear subtle noises that reveal a sneaking foe or warn that a foe is about to attack. Players may use special uses of psionics as explanations for any abilities their character has (even those which are not labeled as psionic abilities.)

-Many psi morphs have special organs within their bodies that help focus their abilities in certain ways. For example, a psi morph's paws may contain energy-collecting organs which can gather psionic energies, and other organs which can focus those energies into a blast of energy. Players may use specialized organs as explanations for any abilities their characters have.

-Many psi morphs have cybernetic implants that act as focuses for their psionic powers. Such implants are commonly called 'psibernetics.' Psi morphs with psibernetic implants are commonly called 'psiborgs.' Players may use psibernetics as explanations for any abilities their characters have.

When Dr. Willton was designing the robots, he decided it would be practical to model them after insects. This would provide advantages such as the stability of 6 legs, and the vision range of multi-lense optical sensors. Of course, he made many modifications, such as designing the forelegs of the robots to be usable to grasping arms while the robot still had 4 legs for stability. After the robots turned against the humans, they made further modifications, such as adding weapons to their designs. So, the majority of the robots whom the players battle look much like giant, metal insects with built-in weapons. The GM may change this if desired.
