Negotiating Disciplines



Basic negotiating tricks have a difficulty of 10 (meaning that in order to successfully use one, the user must get a result of at least 10 on a negotiating check.) The tricks with the numeral II in their name are exceptions. They have a difficulty of 15.

Each time you attempt to use a negotiating trick (whether successful or not,) the difficulty of that trick goes up by 5 for the rest of the day.

Inspiration Tricks

Draw Forth Inner Energy I
Recipient gains a total of 5 FP, which he/she may distribute among PE FP and PA FP.

Draw Forth Inner Vitality I
Recipient gains 10 hp.

Draw Forth Inner Will I
Recipient gains 1 General ISP.

Inspire Combat Confidence I
Up to 3 recipients get +1 to all defense rolls for 2 rounds.

Inspire Combat Determination I
Up to 3 recipients get +1 to all attack rolls for 2 rounds.

Inspire Combat Ferocity I
Up to 3 recipients get +2 to damage dealt by their attacks for 2 rounds.

Inspire Combat Survival I
Up to 3 recipients have all damage dealt to them reduced by 1 for 2 rounds.

Inspire Miscellaneous Determination I
Up to 3 recipients get +1 to all miscellaneous skill rolls for 2 rounds.

Inspire Psionic Determination I
Up to 3 recipients get +1 to all psionic force usage rolls for 2 rounds.

Inspire Psionic Resilience I
Up to 3 recipients get +1 to all psionic resistance rolls for 2 rounds.

Inspire Survival I
Choose up to 3 recipients. For 2 rounds, any damage that would reduce one of them to less than 1 hp instead reduces that person to 1 hp. Only 20 damage per recipient can be negated in this way.

Rally Self: Combat
For one round, your Combat skill checks receive a bonus equal to your ranks in the Negotiating skill group. Master ranks in Negotiating are treated as normal ranks when determining this bonus.
Reminder: You can use a negotiating trick and make an attack during the same round. So, you can use this trick and then immediately attack with the bonus provided by this trick.

Rally Self: Psi Energy
For two rounds, your Psi Energy skill checks receive a bonus equal to your ranks in the Negotiating skill group. Master ranks in Negotiating are treated as normal ranks when determining this bonus.
Reminder: You can not use a negotiating trick and a psionic force during the same round. So, if you use this trick, you must wait until the next round to use a psi energy force with the bonus provided by this trick.

Motive Awareness Tricks

Defensive Pattern Awareness I
Choose a foe. Once you have observed that foe for 5 consecutive rounds, a person of your choice gets a +10 bonus to attack rolls against that foe for 1 round.

Offensive Pattern Awareness I
Choose a foe. Once you have observed that foe for 3 consecutive rounds, a person of your choice gets a +10 bonus to all defense rolls against that foe for 1 round.

Wordless Communication
This trick can be used to communicate with somebody when no common language is shared or when speaking must be avoided.

Persuasion Tricks

If You Can't Beat 'Em I
Use this trick to convice an enemy to leave the battle and flee. This trick can be resisted using an opposed negotiating check. The foe gets a bonus on the roll to resist this trick equal to it's remaining hp plus it's loyalty rating.

If You Can't Beat 'Em II
Use this trick to convice an enemy to switch sides, then flee after the battle ends. This trick can be resisted using an opposed negotiating check. The foe gets a bonus on the roll to resist this trick equal to it's remaining hp plus it's loyalty rating.

Stall For Time I
Delay a Negotiation check for up to 5 rounds. This trick can be used immediately when a Negotiation check would occur. It can not be used to delay the roll needed to use a negotiating trick.

Trickery Tricks


Combat Prank I
Deal 10 damage to the target. This force may be resisted using an opposed negotiating check.

Frustrate Negotiation I
Target is rendered unable to use negotiating tricks for 1 round unless this trick is resisted using an opposed Negotiation check.

Interrupt Thought Process I
Target is rendered unable to use psionics for 1 round unless this trick is successfully resisted using an opposed Negotiation check.

Sudden Vanish
Target may begin sneaking even if being watched, albeit with a penalty of -5.

Throw Off Attack I
Target is rendered unable to attack for 1 round unless this trick is successfully resisted using an opposed Negotiation check.

Negotiating Disciplines

Enemy Focus: Negotiating - Choose a robot class. Get a +4 bonus on all negotiating checks made again robots of that class.
Extra Inspiration - Whenever you use a negotiating trick with more than one target, you may include up to 2 additional targets.
General Good Speaker - Gain a +2 bonus on all negotiating checks that aren't made to use a negotiating trick.
Great General Inner Strength - +2 general ISP.
Great Negotiating Inner Strength - +4 negotiating ISP.
Negotiating Focus - Choose one of the following types of negotiating tricks: Inspiration, Motive Awareness, Persuasion, or Trickery. Gain a +2 bonus on all checks to use negotiating tricks of the type you chose.
Prism Defense: Negotiating - Once a day, for one round, you may treat your ranks in Negotiating as ranks in any other primary skill group (Combat, Psi Atom, or Psi Energy) when making defense skill shecks. Master ranks are treated as normal ranks when using this discipline.
Retry Persuasion - Once a day, if you have tried to persuade somebody of something and failed, you may make another attempt.
Special Vitality - Gain a number of hit points equal to your ranks in Negotiating. This bonus grows as your ranks in Negotiating increase.
Stored Inspiration - Once a day, when you use an inspiration trick, you may give the recipient(s) of that trick the ability to 'store' the effect for later use. As a free action, a person with stored benefits may immediately activate those benefits, which last for a normal length of time. If the stored inspiration trick is not used the same day it is stored, it is lost.
