Twin Turbo Diary Phase II

Well, she's on the road again, and to say the first drive was somewhat of a disappointment would be the understatement of the century. My mate's diesel truck was almost faster than me. Here we go again I thought. Spent the next day looking things over and found that the throttle cable had moved and I was only allowed almost less than half throttle, as well as the float levels being that low that when I flipped the fuel bowl upside down, the float didn't move at all. A test drive showed we were back on track again, with the old girl going as hard as I've seen her. Now to get into some serious tuning...

After brain-storming all week, we came up with the idea that the reason she didn't want to rev out was that it was too rich, 94 and 105 jets. So we swapped these for the 84 and 94 jets and went for a spin. We also added the air/fuel meter and oxygen sensor and thought we'd take a look at what was happening. While I watched the tacho, boost and fuel pressure guages, my mate Mick watched the mixture reading. After a quick squirt, Mick suggested that I didn't want to know what happened but that it may be a good idea to put a bit, no, a lot more fuel in. Changed back to a 94, 110 combination and with 5 pound of boost, 30 degrees total timing, the old girl took off. That new cam and headwork was beginning to show. That night, we went out for a cruise and I tell you, I've never experienced anything like it. Boosts from 2500 rpm, but really, and I mean really hits you from 5000 rpm. Me and Dave we being pushed sideways at about 150kn/hr in second and still accelerating, with only a bit of left steering lock to keep us in a somewhat straight line.
