A Letter To You
Emily Arthur © 2005
Everybody thinks they have the worst in life
But they really don't have a clue
They didn't lose their best friend
They didn't lose someone like you
They didn’t watch as you died slowly
They weren’t there when you couldn’t speak
They didn’t see tears roll down your face
They weren’t a scared child whose hero had lost the fight
They don't know God, not like I do
Which is a fate sadder than death
I pity their excuses at depression
Do they have any right
To long what they don't have
When they have a good life
To criticize those who love them
When they may never see them again
Life is unpredictable
Love everybody you can
While you still have the chance
As for God, He'll always love us
Even those who've never felt Him
His Grace, His Power
Do they fear Him?
Have they no shame?
Maybe I don't really know God
Not as much as I am supposed to
But I have felt Him move inside me
Whisper in my head
Show me signs of the paranormal
Does He show anyone else?
I can't bring myself to think so
They act blinded to Him
They act as if they don't know
How could they be that way and know
I may repress my anger
But I'll release it here
How dare they cry at night
How dare they curse God's name
How dare they think they have been wronged
They don't know God
I don't think many people do
They say they do but they really don't
I pray for their souls, will they see it through?
How dare they criticize their chance at eternity
Is it not worth it to them?
Don't they want life after death?
I guess they've never lost someone like you.
