| The above shot is a collage of eight different photos to capture a sundog that appeared in the Austin area on October, 25, 1999. It was a full sundog and the local news station got a video of it. I didn't get out and realize it was there until the upper and lower suns had disappeared. A little less miraculous but the same physics is this photo I took out of the window of a passenger jet. You can see the |

rainbow and the start of a false sun to the right of the real sun. Continuing with weather phenomenon I have a shot of a unusual cloud pattern caused by high altitude winds. The photo can't do justice to the feeling of seeing those types of clouds across the entire sky. |

I found a different pattern when I looked at the ground during and eclipse. The crescent shaped spots are the sun's image as the light passed through the leaves of a tree in an effect much like a pin hole camera. Venus looks like a pinhole in the next shot of the moon. In a rare configuration Venus aligned with the moon in a visually close proximity. This photo may be rare as well. At the time I took it the news station reported that the local observatory at the University of Texas was not in use and no one was there to photograph it. Only one other local photographer got out his or her camera and got this photo. |

The one below is a little deceiving. The clouds were in straight, parallel lines. Since this is a panoramic view the clouds show up as curved. The uniformity and parallel rows running across the sky was an unusual sight. |
