Essence

you can't see it

Only in the deepest depths of self can one find the solitude
that can crook men and dissolve women; the kind
that fosters the misconception that one is nothing without
a counterpart, a companion with which to while away the time;
someone with whom one can spell out the seasons.
To call upon this place, even willingly, is folly
for any who cannot confront a solitary existence; who,
for whatever motives they own, decline to challenge
what appears to be our purpose for existing.
Yet, there is something to be said for those unafraid,
poised to encounter the isolation readily, free to
explore that foundation of self, to examine and
search new levels of psyche, territories not reached
before frequenting those haunting depths.
I suppose it is all contained in the philosophy of the one,
the viewpoint of the spirit gazing into its own silence.
There is a sorcery to be found when solitary,
if one's character is secure and disciplined enough
to speak the delicate dialect of the soul.

What It Means...
Have you ever watched people, in respect to love?  One thing I see is that a lot of people tend to get involved in one thing almost before another thing is ended.  This gives the impression that one might be afraid of being alone. I have a hard time accepting this concept, and that's basically what this is about.  It's saying that if  you are not afraid to be alone, that being alone has its advantages, as much  as being with someone.  It is saying that being with someone is not the only way to be happy, and sometimes the search to find someone, just anyone, can lead to more hurt and pain than loneliness and being alone.  Not to mention dragging other people into your misery.. (lol)  It simply says I'm not afraid of being alone, that I have seen the advantages to being alone.. and the disadvantages to getting  involved for the sake of being involved.
