Peter Berquist
Biography



Peter Berquist began musical studies at the age of 9 on the cello, and switched to bass at 12. He received a degree in musical performance from the Eastman School of Music in 1978, and has been active in both the classical and jazz fields ever since. Past associations include the Rochester Philharmonic, Savannah Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, the Spoleto Festival Orchestra, and eight years with the U.S. Marine Band in Washington, D.C. He was also active as a free-lance jazz musician during this time.

Since moving to Savannah in 2000, Peter performed with the Savannah Symphony and is in his seventh season as principal bass with the Hilton Head Orchestra. He has also performed with the Charleston Symphony and several other orchestras in the Southeast.
