| Day 42 In the skies above Europe
I am happy to say that we have left Spain and are on our way to Austria. New adventures lie ahead of us, and we are both excited to be on the move. Yesterday was really no better than the day before. I was feeling sicker than ever, so I opted to stay in the hotel most of the day and get some rest. Colleen stayed with me most of the day, leaving only long enough to do our laundry. Unfortunately, we didnt make it out to any more (or any at all for me) of the museums or the sights of Madrid. It will remain, for the most part, a city we have not yet experienced. Perhaps well return some day in the future. Neither of us was really taken with the Spanish food. Granted, we never embarked on the paella journey, mostly because Colleen cant stomach seafood, and I think thats all they ever put in paella. But most of the food we had seemed to be simply cooked and covered in paprika that all-purpose spice I used to put on just about any kind of meat when I was still a bachelor just out of college. Boy, the cuisine we had brought up some memories that would be better left below the surface So here we are, on our way to Vienna. We are both feeling better despite a rather restless night of sleep, and hopefully we can rejuvenate the trip with some good Austrian food and some amazing sights. Only time will tell. We truly enjoy all the emails we are receiving from all of you. Please forgive us if we havent responded to everyone, and know that any word from home or piece of news provides a lifeline to States that is sorely needed at times. So keep the emails coming, and well be in touch after our first experiences in Vienna. So long, Paul and Colleen |
