Here are the explanations on End of the saga that is etched in the minds and bodies of Every human who has heard the word Neo:
Neo: Who, What and Why?
Human or Program? The answer is : A very gifted Human.Confusions to the very nature
And immense powers of Neo had been a point of contention ever since Reloaded showed
Neo as a god in (and in the last scene) out of the Matrix.Neo was the product of gross
Imbalance in the equation that was the primary mathematical function of the Matrix.As
any self sustaining system aims to regain the state of equilibrium - Neo was the
Programmatic equivalent of a complex computer system aiming for equillibrium.And yes -
As The Architect himself said in the closing stages of Revolutions - Computers do not
deceive. So what the Architect said in the closing stages of Reloaded all hold true.
The purpose of Neo(as reiterated in Revolutions) is to balance the imbalance in the system.Neo was given specific roles and powers right from the source code.It is essential to know that The Architect never rewrites the Source Code for Matrix for every Matrix that would be 'Reloaded' (version 6 as Matrix-II tells us) - he or it just reboots or reloads the code.So the Neo program attaches itself to Mr.Anderson whenever the imbalance in the Matrix overshoots a preset limit.
The power? Within the matrix - it is understandable - the source code gives Neo the ability and an illusionary way out for humans to make a choice - which of course would serve the purpose and all the humans whose minds are strong enough to not accept the Matrix program would be weeded out. And system rebooted.But outside the system - Neo is still god. This is a bit more tricky to understand.Will be detailed when Agent Smith is explained.
Trinity:
Trinity is the changed package in Version 6 of Matrix code. Who changed the code?Not
clear - only the Oracle knows the answer.Is it possible to change the source by
remaining in the executable?If the programs have achieved this then the code for
Trinity program has been changed by one of Oracles 'children' (a host of whom she was
seen protecting in the original Matrix).Trinity program was made to keep a tab on Neo
- not allowing himself to become something akin to Agent Smith.But the Oracle
(explained below - don�t worry!:)) in this version of Matrix purposefully fuels the
emotions of both Trinity and Neo - and this blossoms to such an extent that this makes
Neo choose love over purpose (the primary purpose of Neo - to integrate with the
source code) and this preserves the very imbalance in Matrix that Neo was supposed to
cure.
Morpheus:
Morpheus code was written after the Matrix was created. Possibly as an afterthought to
the failure of the 'happy Matrix'(As explained in Matrix-I) - and other programs like
Trinity added around Morpheus. The Morpheus code was like a bleeper code in the first
Matrix - when there existed a man - who could change anything in matrix - to attract
the first 'One' to set him free.His programming had been 'skewed' to make him believe
blindly in the 'One' - and effectively make the people the Architect wanted to weed
out - to believe so too.The aura of a choice would make people accept the Matrix code
was the belief of the machines - and it sure did work - 'cause the last five
versions of Matrix were relatively stable entities. But there always was a certain
risk for the machines - as setting out a human from the matrix - that would mean going
along with all the independent process of development that the free human mind could
take. But then again - human mind it seems develops in a fairly predictable way (maybe
this was the root cause of the arrogance of the Architect) - and it needed a non-human
catalyst (Yes - I am referring to the Oracle) in this case to think differently.
Agent Smith:
Again the Oracle holds the key to change of code this most intriguing program ever
written by machines.Agent Smith was not supposed to be killed/destroyed/deleted by
Neo.He was supposed to re-exist in the Matrix when it was reloaded by the Architect.
But Oracle engineered the last series of events(in Matrix-I) in such a way that Neo
directly confronted Agent Smith - and effectively ended up giving a part of his source
code to Smith.The Oracle knew that neither man or programs could directly confront the
Machines - who at the moment were the most powerful species on Earth. So she built up
Agent Smith - who steadily grew in power to confront the machines to make them drive a
bargain for peace.This again was a tremendous risk - but as she said (in Revolutions)
- she believed in it. No - even a century aand half later - there is hardly a cure for a
very malicious virus. The virus in this case was so strong and evolved that it could
inflict a certain amount of indirect damage on the hardware components(ie the
people/machines who were loaded into the Matrix) - and this is something that even the
machines could not stop.They would have to unplug the matrix - in which case their
energy source would be lost and they would fall prey to an attack by the humans - and
if they didn�t unplug the matrix - they risked being their purpose overwritten by the
virus. Taking an analogy in today's technology - Imagine a virus that can reprogram the
telephone switching circuits by just listening on the phone.This even though not very
feasible does not seem incredulous - you get a feel of the threat faced by the
Machines.
Now - how did Neo become god outside the Matrix? When Neo gave some code to Agent Smith - he TOOK some of the code of Agent Smith with him.Again the theory of balance. So Neo is able to exert a positive influence (as opposed to a negative influence of Agent Smith) on the hardware outside the Matrix.This is readily observed by the Machines - and that is why there's a ready acceptance to the 'treaty' proposed by Neo in Revolutions.
The Oracle:
"Everything that has a beginning - has an end."
Oracle is the key point to the Matrix saga. She has been reloaded six times - and she is 'self-aware' to know that she has been reloaded over and over. This is a classic example of intelligence giving rise another form of intelligence. Man gave rise to AI and AI gave rise to self aware programs - who show all the emotions - dedication,belief in certain values and love(Revolutions clearly demonstrates this by the way of Indian trapped in the Railway station) - which can be categorized to mean Life.
Oracle believes in peace.And she believes in life - in whatever form electronic,titanium or flesh and blood. And she took the ultimate risk to nurture Neo and ended being forcefully deleted from the Matrix.But somewhere one of her 'children programs' had taken a backup and she got herself reinstantiated in the Matrix.
She was the one who led Agent Smith on the path of be dangerously powerful in order to be of a real threat to the Machines.And she sacrificed herself for what she believed in.The answer which most anti-virus developers today are searching for - the most effective way to destroy/delete a virus. Create a virus to a virus.
And the Architect wholly recognizes this - and that explains the final scene of the saga. How did Oracle live again? It was the architect who 'reinstantiated' her.The machines learn appreciation of life.Something which a lot of humans have not learnt - atleast in the year 2003.
