This website has been created as an effort to aid individuals of all walks of life to acknowledge and view people of Africa and of African descent as major actors in human history, not as observers on the sidelines; additionally, the webmaster hopes that the information provided on this page and other links will help erase the notion that being of African descent is a flaw, as it is view in many Latin-American countries.

The Classical Kingdoms of Africa website was a project my students worked on for a month researching and gathering information on Classical Africa and at the same time learning how to use HTML. I should add that my students are Bilingual. By Bilingual I mean that my students are LEP students (Limited English Proficiency, I rather not use that term because the word limited has a bad connotation to it). My students are the authors of the Kingdom pages you will be viewing, (I created this index page) I only helped them trouble-shoot the websites and created some images for their pages.

As you scroll trough the information please acknowledge the wonder that is Africa. I was robbed of this information as I was growing up in the Dominican Republic. As in many Latin American countries, many Dominicans disparage phenotypical African characteristics. As a result, I grew up thinking I was, somehow, only a descendant of the Europeans and the Taino Indians (the Taino population in the Dominican Republic was eradicated around the 1550s). I thought that my dark skin came from being a descedant of the Tainos and not from the Africans. I acknowledge that I am a descendent of Spanish conquistadors and maybe from the Tainos; however, through much reading and learning I have learned to appreciate what I was subliminally taught to hate and feel repugnance towards. My African heritage!

By reading day and night, I have turned darkness into light.
