Goldeneye Rogue Agent Review

Goldeneye Rouge Agent uses the Goldeneye name to try to capitalize on one of the best shooting games of all time, Goldeneye for Nintendo 64. The bad part is, Goldeneye Rogue Agent is just an average shooter.

Rogue Agent is your usual run and gun shooter. There really isn’t much strategy needed as you just run into rooms killing all your enemies and repeat. The levels are pretty boring and the graphics look dull. The enemies act dumb, just standing there waiting to be shot at. The enemies also look too thin. There are only 8 medium length single player levels. Rogue Agent does add special Goldeneye features, but the only good one is the throwing ability. The cutscenes do look good, but some feel rushed and not as in depth. I’m not really a fan of the evil storyline since it defeats the purpose of making this a James Bond game in the first place. The dual wielding is fun, but other shooters such as Halo 2 do it a lot better. I also don’t like how the HUD is on the sides and not on the top. I do like how you are graded on many things after each mission, which unlocks stuff in the game. If only most of those unlockables weren’t mostly artwork. The online play disappointingly only supports 8 players and the modes are all the usual.

Overall, Goldeneye is a decent first person shooter, but it can’t compare to all the other amazing shooters that came out this year. For shooting fans, there really isn’t any reason to get Rouge Agent with better shooters out there. I give it a 7 out of 10.
