Leadership Team Minutes: 11/29/00In Attendance: Ms. Cohen, Ms. Pollock, Ms. Kral, Ms. Sherry Gregory, Ms. Sharon Jeffrey-Roebuck, Julian Stein, Mary OBrian Miranda, Erin Feely-Nahem, Jim Tendean-Luce, Wendy Hersh, Sandra Morbito, Vladana Luicevic, Viviane Codderens. Minutes taken by: Erin Feely-Nahem The majority decided that an elected chair for the meeting was necessary, rather than a rotating chair as had been utilized in the past. Ms. Pollock and Ms. Cohen were elected to chair the meeting. Ms. Feely-Nahem was elected as secretary. Last years Comprehensive Educational Plan, along with the Assessment Surveys created by last years team, was handed out by Ms. Gregory to Team members. Ms. Gregory suggested and all agreed to review the CEP document and the surveys drafted last year, for the next Leadership Team meeting on 1/04/01. Comparison of test scores was discussed and the improvement and significant gains made in our 4th grade reading scores acknowledged. (33% gain in 4th grade reading scores). In an effort to continue improvement on test scores in mathematics for both 4th and 8th grade, Ms. Gregory stated that she had increased the numbers of periods focused in this direction from 5 to 6 this year for middle school and one hour daily for grades K-5. Another goal discussed, that had been stated in the CEP was about bringing Science to the lower school. The various ways this goal is being addressed this year were stated and are listed below:

It was briefly mentioned that the Budget we are
working with only allows for reduced class size in K 3rd grade. In order to
keep our middle school classroom size below standard for Public school, and to
provide accelerated classes, money that could be allocated for other than
teacher salaries must be used to augment the teacher budget. Next meeting we will begin working on the Assessment Surveys, created by last years Leadership Team, as a tool for measuring and assessing how the parents feel that the school is meeting their childrens needs. |
