Principal’s Message
Dear Parents and
Families of our PS 11 Community,
I
hope that the summer was filled with rich experiences and adventures. The staff
and myself are eager to begin what we feel will be a wonderful year of learning
and exploration for your children and ourselves.
We
have lots of new faces and lots of new ideas. We will need all of you to help
make this year a special and most successful one for PS 11.
Some
important concerns that you must help us with:
1.
School begins at 8:20 a.m. The building is open at 7:45 a.m. Please, please be
here a few minutes before 8:20. Our teachers begin their day ready to teach at
that time. Also, this is not a time to hold conversations with teachers. Please
set up a time at both your and their convenience.
2.
Food issues—I want you to support me in making sure that junk food is not
brought into the school. When I see children drinking soda and eating potato
chips, cheese puffs, etc. I am quite upset. Besides the weight issues that a
great number of our children are facing, the effect on their concentration in
class makes learning more difficult. I need your full support.
3.
Emergency cards—Please fill these out immediately and return them as soon as
possible to your child's teacher. Any changes during the school year should be
sent in as they occur. Keeping these cards up to date insures the safety of
your child.
4.
An important note—Dinah Krosnick has left the classroom and will be our Program
Coordinator. We're very excited.
Finally,
Stephen McGill is our Parent Coordinator and will be located in room 101C. It's
a great choice.
Let's
have a great year and keep all lines of communication open and all energies
focused on what is best for our children.
Francis Del Monaco, Principal
Greetings from
the PTA Co-Presidents
Welcome to or back to
PS 11 and what we expect to be a very exciting year at our school. We are
thrilled to begin the school year as your new PTA Co-Presidents and look
forward to a very productive year. We are committed to strengthening our school
community by working diligently with our parent body and PS 11 staff. We are
counting on your support to make this possible. Have a wonderful first week of
school!
Allia Matta and Linda Osborne

New! Parent Coordinator
Get to know Stephen
McGill, a PS 11 parent, who has joined the staff as Parent Coordinator (room
101C). His purpose is to serve as liaison between parents and school staff,
work closely with parent organizations within the school, increase parental
involvement, and promote better communication among all members of the school
community.
Getting Involved
Parent volunteers are
needed as class parents and for the cafeteria, playground, library, and
PTA committees including the Fall Festival. Sign up at the Sept. 12
New Parent Breakfast and the Sept. 17 PTA meeting. Volunteering at PS 11 is
