Prypjat City was founded in 1970 as City of builders of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. It was beatiful nature around: Prypjat river, forest arond, great place for summer week-ends, vacations, fishing, hunting, picking up mushrooms and berries. City was built with good taste. There are 5 comfortable microdisrticts with schools, kindergardens, shops and other facilities. Houses in Prypjat aren't so colourless and gray as in most of soviet cities, so nice nature around, architecture and young age of inhabitants, their energy created good atmosphere for life in Prypjat. There were about 50 000 residents in city in 1986, a lot of them were children. Distance from the Power plant to the nearest houses of Prypjat is about 2 km, so when one day Chernobyl reactor exploded and spitted out a lot of radiation, radioactive cloud covered city. Innocent children went to the school, younger children were playing in the street, people were walking, spending nice late spring week-end, nobody knew truth about radiation level. Station is visible from some places in City, so people knew about accident, but continued usual life, unawared about real danger of radiation, but some places in City were fatal dangerous. Evacuation started 36 hours after explosion.
