| Your Silence 5/31/03 |

| Replete this world This collection of verbal packrats, Closing up their mouths As suitcases of several foibles, tidbits, apathies. Their silences are full and heavy- To puncture spawns a flood That floods with nothing, Eddying around the profoundest solitude Where souls are separated By their own volume of words. And you, With your soundless magnet eyes Are the emptiest of silences. The cessation of your voice is An emptiness to gather all around you Like a beacon of missing words. And like two stars Separated by nothing We spin together silently Pulling radiant through the void. And as light in a vacuum Can travel and travel, We see each other more clearly Unhindered by the bulbous noise Of everybody's silence. I feel closer to you than I do To so many full and pregnant lapses, More open and empty than I am alone, And more akin to you. |
