| House of Told |
| Miklos was born in 1465 in Hungary. His father was a Prussian nobleman (Henrik von Grezburg), a true knight who decided to fight against the Muslims. However, there was no Crusade at the time, so he joined the armies of the Hungarian King and eventually became the captain of one of the biggest fortresses, on the southern borders. He spent his life fighting the Turks and died in 1494 in a small skirmish. Miklos's mother (Anna Told) was the daughter of the powerful Hungarian baron Miklos Told. No planned marriage here, von Grezburg and Anna fell in love, and despite the anger of the father they married. Eventually, the Baron forgave them, as he loved his daughter very much and he learnt that von Grezburg was a real knight. Miklos grew up in an environment under the Rule of the Sword, and by the age of 20 he was a famed fighter. However, his attention soon turned to philosophy and religion and in his desire to understand Life, he started to travel extensively, to Alexandria, Jerusalem, and even Persia. He became a philosopher-scientist, who came to respect life very much, and also -what a blasphemy - respected all other religions. In his heart of hearts he became a pantheist but he behaved as a true Christian. In 1494 he decided to return to Hungary, but found that after the death of the famed King Mathias (1458-1490) who shortly occupied Austria and Bohemia in the 1480s the country started to fell apart under a weak King. Besides, his mother also died in 1496 so he decide to go to prussia to find out about his relatives -especially about his father's brother (Stefan von Grezburg) who promised Henrik to take care of his son. So Miklos - who took up his grandfather's name - arrived in prussia in 1497. Married in 1497 with Helena, daughter of Hungarian King (1480-) |
