Prudent Value is an independent, fee-based Registered Investment Advisor ("RIA") to private and institutional investors. Our investment process is based on the work of Benjamin Graham and David Dodd (founders of modern securities analysis). To this, we add Warren Buffett's approach to focus within our circle of competence. In short, we are value-focused investors looking for the right business at the right price run by the right people.
Our business is structured to provide unbiased and objective advice. Since we are a fee-based advisor, we do not profit from trading your account. Instead, our fees are based on the growth of your account, so that our interests are aligned with yours. Further, we commit a large portion of our own assets with Prudent Value. To that end, we view our investors as partners, but without the complex partnership agreements.
Our investment approach is very research intensive and includes preparing detailed valuation models. The valuation models calculate the intrinsic value which is based on discounted cash flows. Intrinsic value is an economic concept, estimating future cash flows discounted to present value.
