Description of Persona: Mokyne is reasonably tall, around 5'10" or so, and lanky with the promise of more growth. His hair is black, and, being somewhat long, it curls tightly and looks shorter than it really is. He has blue eyes of startling clarity, and would be quite handsome if not for the continuous look of disdain and revulsion on his somewhat pale face. As it is, the look makes his appearing darkly handsome and arrogant. His personality is evident at first glance, with the aforementioned look. Mokyne is a thief, of superb quality, one who could practically steal the runner from underneath you, as if stealing is a quality to be bragged of. No one mentions it, but everyone knows where things that have turned up missing will someday reappear. He despises his family to the utmost degree, most especially his stepmother Likina and his oldest sibling, Torquin, a year his junior. He lets these feelings carry over into most of his affairs, and is well-known. Well-known is not! to be confused with popular.

Brief History of Persona: : Mokyne's mother Feeli died in childbirth. Mokyne's father Sorran promptly remarried, beginning it all. Mokyne, though he had no recollections of his own of his deceased mother, resented his father's new wife Likina for trying to take her place. This apparent hatred was not helped by the fact that Likina bore numerous children, the oldest, Torquin, being barely a year younger than Mokyne.

The first sign of Mokyne's hatred of Likina came when Mokyne was around five. Sorran desired his son to know the truth of his birth, and told Mokyne of his first wife, Feeli. Mokyne then refused to refer to Likina as "Mommy" and reverted to calling her "Likina," if anything. By the time he was seven, Mokyne had convinced himself Likina and her children hated him. This wasn't exactly true; Likina, while she did not love Mokyne as she did her own children, was still kind to her husband's son, as kind as anyone else expected. Mokyne was inexplicably cruel to Likina, and for that her children disliked him. Torquin, being nearly Mokyne's age and size, was quite a problem. Their many fights only made Mokyne more umpopular with everyone, as he invariably began each fight.

When Mokyne was twelve, his father attempted to placate him by purchasing for his eldest child a large black stallion. Mokyne promptly dubbed the runner "Untamed Fury" and began disappearing for sometimes hours, or even overnight, at a time. It was around this time Mokyne taught himself to steal, and he proved himself to be quite adept at the devious art of thievery.

It was the next Turn Likina tried to become Mokyne's friend. She procured for him one fire lizard egg. Mokyne actually began to doubt that Likina hated him so much after all, as, at least at that particular hold, fire lizards were extremely rare. However, that temporary peace ended when the egg hatched a green. Mokyne felt that Likina, if she really didn't hate him, should have gotten him a gold, or at least a bronze. He named the green "Spite," for what he believed she was trying to do to him, and he vowed to hate her even more. Mokyne was confident within a year Torquin would have a gold.

Things did take a turn for the better, however. Torquin outgrew Mokyne by more than a hand, and Mokyne decided the better part of valor was discretion. He stopped picking fights and bothering the younger children and Likina, directly at least. He still slighted them and was as contrary as ever, but in a more subtle manner. Torquin, mistaking the peace as being true, offered Mokyne a pup from his canine's recent litter. Mokyne, as was usual, picked the largest and most violent animal in the bunch. Whether by training or by genetics, Hollow Rebellion, as the canine was called, proved quite as difficult as his master.

By this point in time, Likina feared for her children's safety. Along with Torquin, there was Geln, Keena, Sevnarn, Lisor, Pelen, Koda, Kinran, Fordun, Sorla, Plaio, Temal, Zema, and Kitri. The older children had grown up closer to Mokyne and despised him from long association. The middle ones had been spited by the older Mokyne, his main victims for their defenselessness. Zema and Kitri were too young to understand Mokyne and the things about him that were not satisfactory, but Likina chiefly feared for three-Turn-old Temal. Temal was too young to believe Mokyne was as terrible as everyone said, and he idolized his older half-brother.

Likina tried to convince Sorran to send Mokyne away, to the Weyrhold, which was nearest. Sorran loved Mokyne, despite the boy's faults, and he refused. Meanwhile, Mokyne had decided he wasn't going to tolerate Likina, Torquin, Sorran, or anyone else's domination over his life, and, taking Untamed Fury, Hollow Rebellion, and Spite, he ran away. As he often disappeared for days at a time now, Mokyne knew it would be quite a while before anyone was sent to search for him, if any were sent at all. He made for the Weyrhold.

He arrived at Silver Ridge Weyhold, and shortly after, a greenrider searched him to stand for a junior queen's clutch. It seemed the perfect excuse. He could stand, Impress his bronze, and then he was safe, unable to leave the Weyrhold. Unfortunately, things rarely work out as planned, and I'm sure you can imagine Mokyne's surprise when he found the bubbly, talkative blue Tormairath standing before him.
