Description of Persona: Jaei isn't exactly most people's picture of beauty. Her hair is an uniform brown, so dark that it almost appears to be black. It reaches just past her shoulders, hanging as straight as a board. A pair of shorter strands, one to each side, fall just too short to tuck behind her ears like the rest of her hair. They usually tumble into her blue-green eyes and are generally considered to be the bane of her existence. A light splattering of freckles mars the otherwise pale bridge of her nose and her also pale round cheeks, giving her an appearance of being younger than she truly is. Her entire look is one of friendly, plain beauty, or rather, or plain cuteness. For cute Jaei is, and not necessary pretty. She's about medium height, standing in at an even five-foot-seven, and unusually thin and lightweight for her height, being mostly skin and bones, so to speak. She doesn't look very athletic or outgoing, being much more of the shy, intelligent type. Her voice is loud, not unpleasant, exactly, but far from Harper status. Being somewhat of a tomboy, her clothes trend more towards comfortable than stylish, and it's painfully obvious how much trouble she could cause if forced to wear a dress. As far as personality goes, Jaei is, to put it mildly, a bit odd. She's obsessed with perfection -- her perfection, to be exact. Being highly intelligent, she always excelled at and thoroughly enjoyed schooling activities that most children despise. She was, by far, the best at reading, writing, and other such scholarly exercises. Jaei learned that no one could equal her in that respect at an early age. Even those who did as well as she had to work at it, whereas Jaei's skills required no effort whatsoever. To the casual observer, this may seem fine and good, but let me tell you: It's not. Because she does so well at virtually everything she does, Jaei can't stand to be less than the absolute best. If someone is better than her, she'll usually pitch a large fit. At other times, she'll recklessly laugh it off. She's quite a mystery. She's loud and arrogant around her family; she's shy and introverted around friends; and around strangers she's open and goofy. People her own age intimidate her, while around adults she's talkative and friendly, often striking up a conversation with random people she's never seen before. If something doesn't go her way, she holds grudges and pouts, often. Except for her fault of having to be perfect, she is relatively untroublesome and good-natured. Jaei's quite a character.

Brief History of Persona: Born and raised in an isolated hold under Ridge Crest jurisdiction, she rarely saw dragons, but had, at an early age, committed virtually every song of dragons her hold's journeyman harper knew to memory. With no other children her age to play with, Jaei grew up very nearly the only child wealthy holders. Her only brother, Jeffar, fourteen years her elder, was Searched by Dark Ridge Weyr and Impressed brown Poranth. Since that day, five years ago, when she, at the Hatching of Poranth, saw the little brown walk sure-footedly towards Jeffar, Jaei had set her heart on a dragon. When, a year later, the hold's crop, their only source of income, failed, her family relocated to Ridge Crest Weyr. Faced everyday with dragons, Jaei determined to be Searched and to Impress. Three years later, her dream began to unfold, with green Patith's Searching of Jaei.
