| Lines Cut from the Episode Scene One: After Chandler enters with Phoebe in tow, Phoebe sees Monica has hired a masseuse and is horrified. Monica tries to explain, but ends up saying, "God, I've GOT to get better at lying!" Scene Three: After Chandler suggests they return the punch bowl "to the street say, from the balcony," Monica worries about his aunt and uncle finding out if they don't keep it. Chandler says, "Let's cross that bridge when my aunt and uncle who I haven't seen in fifteen years drop by unexpectedly and demand a gigantic bowl of punch." Scene Three: After Chandler realizes he's never seen the inside of the closet, he asks Monica what's inside. She first says it's personal stuff. Only after he questions her further does she says it's feminine stuff. Of course, he doesn't accept this excuse either. Scene Four: After Chandler leaves the room, Phoebe asks Monica how she could lie to her. Monica tries to make something up, but again struggles and says, "I have GOT to learn how to lie!" Scene Five: After Joey says, "Well, I got some stuff going on in here if you want to feel it," Ross replies, "I'll pass but you look radiant." Scene Seven: After Joey suggests, "Ooh, I bet it's Richard!" who's in the closet, Chandler questions him, and Joey responds, "Before you say I'm wrong, let me ask you something. When was the last time you saw him?" Scene Seven: After Joey replies, "Well, off the top of my head, maybe she's having her cake and eating it too. You being the cake and Richard being the too," Chandler asks him if that was really off the top of his head, and Joey points to his own head and says, "Yeah." Scene Eight: After Joey tells Rachel to come with him to the hospital and walks out of their apartment with her, he has trouble with the lock and freaks out about the bugs, saying, "Watch your feet, there's bugs everywhere!" Scene Nine: After Joey tells Ross that Rachel is fine, Ross originally says he doesn't care about not getting to see the movie because he was going to Lord of the Rings, which he wasn't very enthusiastic about seeing in the first place. He says angrily, "Like it could ever be as good as the book!" The audience didn't laugh very hard at this, so they cut it after the first take. Scene Ten: After Chandler jokes that Joey is doing nothing wrong "except for harboring an all-consuming love for the woman who's carrying his baby," Joey replies, "Well, there IS that." Scene Eleven: After Monica says she didn't realize what she was doing during Phoebe's massages, she comes to a discovery about her sex noises. She exclaims, "That's why Alexandra wears earplugs when she gives me a massage! It's not because she hates Enya!" Scene Twelve: After Ross enters to see Rachel has developed the talent of being able to balance a juice can on her pregnant belly, he says sarcastically, "Now, if you stick one hand down your pants, you're the spitting image of Joey!" Scene Twelve: After saying, "Giving her pickles makes her sick," and before saying, "Giving her pickles is like giving me salad," Joey lists to Ross some other foods that make Rachel sick, including chicken. Scene Twelve: After Ross says, "I shouldn't be the guy making her throw up!" he corrects himself, saying, "Actually, nobody should be THAT guy." Scene Thirteen: After Ross suggests he and Rachel try living together "on a temporary basis," Rachel jokes, "Living with the father of the baby. It's a little conventional for us." Ross continues to try to convince her, pointing out how she likes his building and there's more room, meaning "you could have a closet dedicated to shoes." Rachel teases, "Oh, you do know your audience." Scene Thirteen: After Rachel decides to move in with Ross and Joey is VERY sad, Ross offers to help Rachel move her stuff. He even volunteers to start immediately. Joey then reminds him about his date with Mona, which he'd again completely forgotten about. When he realizes, he says, "UNBELIEVABLE!" and walks out the door. Scene Fourteen: After Chandler remarks, "I married Fred Sanford!" She then tries to explain, "You know how I organize everything, right? OK, well, this is all of the stuff that didn't fall into any category. So you see, I'm not messy, I'm just so organized that" Scene Fifteen: After Joey says, "Like, I can walk around naked, you know? I can watch porn in the living room!" he continues, "And I can play games like this!" He then picks up a bottle of ketchup from the counter and chucks it at the bathroom door in frustration. When it hits the bathroom door, ketchup spills everywhere. Chandler asks, "What kind of game is that?" Joey, on the verge or tears, makes one of the funniest jokes of the show, saying, "I don't know, but the score's one-nothing!" I was very upset they cut this part. Not only was it EXTREMELY funny, but it really got across just how upset Joey was. Testing Different Lines Scene Two: After Rachel comes to tell Joey the baby has kicked for the first time, she wants Joey to feel the baby kick, which he does, but he needs to keep one hand on his bed sheet while doing so since he was sleeping wearing only an undershirt. In different takes, Joey said, "I'm not wearing any bottoms," and, " I'm not wearing any drawers." Scene Four: After Phoebe is rude to Monica, they tried two different jokes for Chandler. The first was, "Would you ladies care for a nice bowl of punch?" Personally, I prefer this line and am not sure why they changed it. The second joke was, "Phoebe, if it helps, Alexandra's only been massaging Monica's for three years." Phoebe gets angrier, and Chandler says to Monica, "IF! I said IF it helps!" Scene Nine: After Rachel thanks Joey for helping her out and being so calm, Joey yells "YOU BOUGHT THAT?!?" in some takes and "CALM?!? I WASN'T CALM!!!" in others. Scene Nine: After the doctor says, "You'll make a wonderful father," Joey puts his hand on Ross's shoulder and replies, "Not as good as this guy! He brought Twizzlers!" They changed around the Twizzlers line a bit in different takes. Acting Mistakes Scene One: When Chandler says, "Buy stamps pick up dry cleaning DON'T let Phoebe in," Matthew kept accidentally enunciating the wrong word. Scene Three: When Chandler says, "Let's cross that bridge when my aunt and uncle who I haven't seen in fifteen years drop by unexpectedly and demand a gigantic bowl of punch," Matthew had a lot of trouble with the difficult line. However, they didn't end up using this line anyway. Scene Five: At one point during this scene, Jennifer hesitated on the word "I," which led into "I can't remember my line." Scene Nine: The first time the doctor tried to say his first line about Braxton Hicks contractions, he forgot it and swore instead. Scene Nine: David screwed up or forgot his lines a lot during this scene. Everyone struggled to maintain focus and shot the scene unsuccessfully over and over again. Joking Around Scene Nine: At one point after they'd already had to start the scene again many times, instead of running into the waiting room, David jokingly strolled into it casually. Scene Fifteen: After Matt and Matthew knew they'd hugged longer than would be shown, they jokingly patted each other on the back. Other Interesting Information Scene One: In this scene, Phoebe sees Monica has hired a masseuse and is horrified because Monica never lets Phoebe massage her. Apparently, the writers made a continuity mistake. In season seven in The One Where Rosita Dies, Monica pointed out that Phoebe gave her and Ross massages earlier that year. Scene Two: The dream sequence was filmed in advance and played back in sequence so our laughter could be recorded. Scene Four: After Monica corrects Phoebe by saying, "Dinosaurs," Phoebe replies, "Po-tay-to, po-tah-to." Not only was this part was unnecessary, but Phoebe already used that line in a previous episode. Scene Ten: The very beginning of this scene was filmed ahead of time. They played it back in sequence so our laughter could be recorded. I'm not sure why they chose to film it in advance. Scene Fourteen: After this entire scene was shot, the set crew added the fourth wall of the apartment to the left of the door. They then filmed the middle part of the scene with the cameras facing that wall. I thought they did this because they weren't originally planning to reveal what's inside the closet right away after Chandler gets it open, but apparently, I was wrong. |
