Chapter One- 'Roll Up And Shine'
The Night Prior...
Dug deep in the city lay something so amazing and people were so eager to know just what was happening, they were risking going against the law to get in. In the very centre of the city of LA, there was an amazing event. It held with it a great army of mysterious and almost outstanding people, some gathered from across the globe to get there.
The hot, pounding and almost hypnotic mood for the party brought a new flavour to the once chilly, stormy October nights. Nobody was themselves this night, everyone was their hero. Masked and under the spotlight made it hard to be afraid, but, at the same time, reassured. It was a party to end all overs. And under the cover of night-time made it seem like the only party in the whole world. The rest of the world was asleep, dead, somewhere else and it was to be like that till the break of dawn. Then the world would be itself again without a mention of what just happened.
But it seemed the world was under this one place. Hundreds of people were still coming into the huge dance-floor. And there were bars and lounges surrounding the place to make it complete. The band was playing a heavy song for the lovers, the dance-partners were getting just a little closer and the whole world on this All Hallows Eve were wishing they had come.
"I wish we'd never come."
Obi-Won Kenobi turned to his friend and grinned. "Why d'you say that?"
Han Solo shrugged. "Three hours in and no sign of Leia."
Luke Skywalker laughed. "Just be glad you're not a Jedi, buddy; the best I get is Yoda. A girl like Leia wouldn't like a Jedi."
"That's cuz she's your sister." Obi pointed out.
"You should have come as Leia." Luke laughed.
"Get lost, I'm the baddest of the whole Jedi Nights."
"You die in the first movie!"
"You can't even save a limb in battle!"
Han sighed as the bickering interrupted his trail of thoughts. "You're both pathetic."
"Shutup Han, go find Leia." Luke waved his hand at him and Han did so.
"Yo Ike." Isaac turned back around to see his best friend.
"Yo Spite. What's your costume?" Spite wore the same skating clothes day-in-day-out, but he could have at least tried for Halloween.
"Duh! Jay! Silent Bob and Jay!"
Isaac looked his friend up and down. "Actually yes, you do him well. Can't say I see any difference."
Spite laughed. "One..." He reached into the pockets of his trousers fit for a family of four and took out a rolled-up joint. "Snoochy-boochie-noochies!"
Isaac shook his head, laughing. "You got dope just for one party?".
"You think I'm that bad?"
"Yes."
"Okay, bad example. I just saw Silent Bob, so, may the force be with you my friend." Spite ran off before Ike could even attempt to point out that he wasn't a Jedi. Ah well.
The night roamed on like any other party. A few rumours about some famous band at the party was always funny when people asked Isaac who it could be. He would usually shrug and reply 'probably some rock band'. Ha ha...
It was almost stroking the midnight hour as the mood of music sank down into deep emotions and love for one another. The couples found harmony and peace after a night of fighting and resentment for Superman looking Xena's way. There was a mood change and soon everyone was either smiling or wanting to find their perfect love before they looked like the perfect losers. But either way it was a time for romance and good loving. No matter who you were...
"Ugh, a few more of these songs and I'll be praying to the porcelain God."
Isaac turned to Zac. "Oh quite whining Luke."
Zac looked over at a Fembot. "You think I have a chance?"
Isaac smiled. "Yeah, probably. What? The girl-phobic patient wants to try to get a dance-partner?"
Zac grinned. "Just watch the master at work."
"Whatever." Isaac smiled.
But as he watched his little brother get in there with the girl, he was getting lonely. Great, his worst nightmare was coming true. Single at a party like this. He would be lonely forever. Or at least till they invented real fembots. Ha ha again.
'Haven't we met? You're some kind of beautiful stranger...' The music changed to a more upbeat feeling but still the couples danced.
Then, out of the hundreds of souls, Isaac saw her. She was just standing there, on the other side of the bar, ordering a drink, acting like she wasn't the most amazing woman on the planet. She had the perfect outfit on- Leia's. Was that just fate or what? Could Isaac even bother waiting for a sign? But still one came. She looked his way. He smiled a little, then acted like he was busy. She was still staring as Isaac turned back.
'...You could be good for me, I have a taste for the danger. If I'm smart then I'd run away. But I'm not, so I'll guess I'll stay...'
The girl had long chestnut hair, but it was all tied up in near perfect buns like Leia. Isaac tried to make out what colour eyes she had, but they were changing. Just probably the lights. But, wow. She had soft-tanned skin and she seemed just perfect. All over. Even though he'd only seen her for a second, Isaac knew. There was something dangerous about the way she looked at him, but, he didn't care. But then, a guy came up to her before he could even get up. But she was still looking at Isaac! Score! She waved the guy away and then smiled at Isaac. He smiled back, then slowly got up.
'...Heaven forbid, I fell in love with a beautiful stranger...'
Isaac was trying to get past all those people. It was annoying. He was still looking at her as he seemed to be getting even further away, trying to dodge everyone. In end he was pushing past them all. He had to talk to her. He had to be with her. Just something about her made him want to be with her forever.
"Hey beautiful stranger." Isaac said, then immediately regretted it. Beautiful stranger?! What the hell was that?
She smiled, laughing a small, soft laugh. "Hey yourself. I didn't think Han would come tonight."
"I didn't think Leia would come either." Isaac replied. "Can I get you a drink?"
She lifted a Budweiser bottle. "Already got one, sorry."
"Oh." Isaac said slowly. "You wanna dance?"
She smiled, getting up. "Sure. I can't dance though." She looked Isaac up and down. "You're really sweet."
"Oh great," Isaac replied dryly as they walked onto the dance floor, "I'm sweet. Just what I wanted to hear."
"No, not like that." She grinned. "In a sexy way."
"And you, I must say, are absolutely beautiful." Isaac paused for a second. "In a sexy way."
She laughed again. "What's your name?"
"Hello? Han Solo!" Isaac replied. She laughed. He liked her laugh. "No, it's Ike Hanson."
"Melissa Moloko." She replied. It took a beat. "Oh, so you're the band here, right?"
"Yeah."
"Can't say I loved Mmmbop." She admitted.
"Who did?" Isaac replied casually.
"But I liked I Will Come To You."
"Oh cool." Ike said. Hey, she's only being polite, but who cares?
"Yeah. Guitar players are the best..." She said, and leaned a little closer. She then looked a little distort. "You do actually play the guitar, right?"
"Yeah. Can't say I'm Joe Perry, but, I try."
"You're talking about Aerosmith, right?"
"D'you know any other Joe Perry?" Ike asked slowly.
"Sorry, I thought the teeny-world had destroyed you."
"Not quite." Ike replied.
As the song ended, there was an unease between them both. Like they did not want to part. Like they wanted to be connected for all eternity. And to never look back at their lonely lives. Ever.
Melissa smiled as she lifter her head from leaning on Isaac's shoulder. She didn't seem to want to leave. "D'you want to go somewhere, uh, private?"
Isaac smiled. "Yeah Okay." He leaned towards her, and she came towards him to kiss him for the first time.
"Guys! The countdown to the new day is apon us!" The DJ yelled.
Melissa looked panicked as she saw the clock. "Holy mother of... How can it be midnight?"
"Does it matter? You don't have a curfew, do you?" Isaac joked.
"I'm really sorry Ike, but, I have to go." Melissa was already running for the door. Ike felt a knife draw out and stab him hard. Why? A thousand times it screamed, but, no answer. It was going so great. So amazingly great. But now...
Isaac was interrupted of thoughts as he saw Taylor walk, stumble, get up, then stumble again towards him.
"Yo, Dude, I dunno what they put in this stuff but..." Taylor giggled. "I am so wasted..."
"You're an idiot." Ike observed. "Did you see where that girl dressed up as Leia went?"
"Endor?" Tay asked slowly. He giggled again.
"Okay, how much did you have?"
Taylor shrugged. Then he stumbled again.
Zac wandered over to see Taylor was using Isaac as a support by now. "Oh great... Guess we're staying round Johnson's, right?"
"Yup." Isaac replied. "Zac, go find him and tell him the fun news."
Zac nodded, still amused that out of the three of them it had to be Tay to get drunk.
Isaac sat Taylor on a bar stool. "Stay." Taylor seemed to be having trouble maintaining balance so he just put his head on the table. "Uh... Yeah."
As much as helping his brother stay conscious sounded fun to him, he wanted to find Melissa again. He tried to understand what had made him want her so, but it seemed right anyway. Everything about her seemed right, absolutely perfect. She had the most amazing face, her smile made her cheeks glow a little and a dimple show. She had a perfect jaw-line and cheekbones, the kind models pay millions for. And then... What the hell was wrong with him? He was supposed to be the romantic one, but this was ridiculous!
Then Isaac recognised a familiar face. "Yo Spite!" He was slipping through a Fire Exit that led to the back alleyway of the venue. Isaac sighed, might as well go after him. As he walked outside he noticed just how late it was. It was pure silence, minus the faint sound of the music, but after the soundproof door slammed shut from the wind, there was nothing to be heard.
"Spite?" Ike asked, getting annoyed. It was dark, but the lights from the streets made him able to at least look out for a wall or something. But still he couldn't find his friend. This was spooky. Spite was not the one to even consider leaving a party at midnight, unless escorted out.
Now there was another sound. It was extremely faint, unless he stopped walking. Somebody else was in the alley way. Isaac could hear them breathing.
He walked slower now, it could be anybody, especially in the middle of the city at midnight. But he wasn't that scared. Somebody wanted a cigarette outside? Who cared?
He saw the somebody finally. Tall guy smoking. Just as he thought. No biggie.
"Hey, have you seen a stoned guy run past here?" Well, that was the best description of his friend. Actually, that was the best description of all of his friends apart from his brothers.
"Nope." The guy replied.
"Damn..." Isaac mumbled. "Uh, thanks anyway." He turned to walk back.
"That's Okay." The guy replied. Isaac cried out and fell to the floor. "My pleasure."
Isaac tried to get up but before he could he was knocked out.
