Dear Friends,
Thanks to your generous and forthcoming
support at the beginning of 2007 the eight students of the Proyecto
Educacion Maya were able to enjoy a successful year of
schooling in their respective primary, middle and high schools
in San Antonio Aguas Calientes and in Antigua. The $2,200 I
was able to wire to our account in Antigua allowed to pay full
tuition fees for primary and middle school students and partial
tuition fees for high school students, as well as books and utensils.
The students are expressing their gratefulness to you in their
letters which I enclosed with this newsletter. We are now left
with seven girls since William graduated in industrial and electrical
studies in November. Keyla will be graduating in accounting
in 2008. Maria de los Angeles who lost her father and older
brother to fatal illnesses this past year has made a valiant
effort to continue her schooling. She will be graduating in
home economics in 2009 along with Teresa who will be a teacher.
10-year-old Heydi is our youngest student and will be starting
fourth grade in January. Your commitment is making a world of
difference in the lives of these Indigenous Guatemalans. They
are counting on your continued support for 2008 and would like
to thank you for it!
